How to install Infiniti Q50 rear sequential signals (without the pigtail)

I decided to get on eBay and finally order a set of sequential lights for the rear to go with the mirror lights. Regardless of which vendor you purchase from the installation will be similar with the exception of maybe the color of the wiring you receive. With a little trial and error, it can be figured out easily enough.

@Foxcraze I was more intimidated by tearing out the trim. Removing trim was easy, especially with plastic trim tools. Couple of bucks on Amazon . Now that I have the trunk pretty much empty, I'm interested in checking out your soundproofing in the trunk. Love my Q but it's a bit noisy.

While signaling and pressing brake light do they still have the turn signal functioning I notice mine stops the turn signal when I press brake and signaling at the same time I thought he turn signal will keep functioning when I step on the brake

Yeah I see no reason why you can’t tap into the sequential lights. They are also a low wattage and should be just fine!

Quick question. I installed them correctly but the right side , the indicator is blinking rapidly when the yield lights are on but on the left has the perfect animation. What could be the issue ?

This is just what I was after. I've had the lights for nearly a year but not installed them as I wasn't sure how the electrical connectors went! Thanks (I just hope my terminals are the same!!)

Real glad it was helpful. Your tail light harness will be identical but if your sequential wires are a different color than mine trial and error will solve the sequence fairly quick!

Good video, thanks for doing it! I'm thinking of doing this on my 2015 Q50. Someone below mentioned that when the brake light is on, it overrides the turn signal. Meaning if you are standing on the brake while a turn signal is on, there is no sequential. What does yours do?

So I tested this theory and you are correct; if the brake is applied the sequential goes solid as a brake light while the stock turn signal continues to flash.

Mine came with pins but the wires were about 2 feet so I drilled some small holes in the trunk

Dang haven’t seen a set with such short wires, but at least you worked it out! Did you put any grommets on the drilled holes so the cut metal doesn’t wear into the wires?

I did my like that but when my light is on my turn signal light don’t light up to the left only stay on read do you have the same problem? Where my lights is off It work just like yours

No mine work correctly in every setting. I would recheck the plug/ wiring. you might have two wires or pins touching somehow. If that’s not the case and it done that since day 1 then it might be a defect in the circuit board itself.

What's the name if the tool you used to trim the plastic?

I used a Dremel3000 with a drum sanding bit. Any brand rotary tool will get the job done though just adjust the speed so it sands the plastic and doesn’t melt it in the process.

They will fit untrimmed but will be less flush and might be touching the paint in some places.

Yeah man, driving the car daily to work just wasn’t conducive to getting anything accomplished on it. I’m gonna take leave and get it done in waves. Since the kit is on other Q’s already I needed to find away to make mine unique and be different. I got that planned out now.

Unfortunately no, these require the holes from the 1st gen bumper to be mounted.

Oh, lol in that case the answer is if the lights are set to auto or on then they will be on but if set to off then only the sequential and brake application will function.

I have talked about it here and there that I didn’t have the ability to have the car down while it happens and it be driven daily as it needed to be. I still plan to install it this year but I’m deployed till the fall and have been uploading footage recorded over a couple months leading up to me shipping out. Being military with a family and other obligations doesn’t give me massive amounts of free time.
