Madge has finally done what needed to be done. Picked players on form and in position. Enough said. Its up to them to cement their reputations made at club level in those positions and prove that they can bring it to the Origin Stage. The coach doesn't need the added headache during origin week coming up with a game plan to suit players playing out of position. Neither does the player have to adjust to playing out of position in a week. Teddy was a major reason why we had so many fullbacks and wannabe fullbacks lining up out of place.

hopefully this time's right but NSW have had the last 15 years to build a dynasty and failed at every turn. did qld pick players based on form? no, they picked players that had time to stick together and gel making changes when absolutely needed. qld worked and gave time on their combos building familiarity and pride in that jersey. the complete opposite of nsw

Most of the backline has at some stage been replacement fullbacks at one stage or another, I think it's a great team with many being able to switch positions if need be.

NSW best team in recent memory had 3 fullbacks in it. When it was Teddy, Trell and Turbo we had a pretty unstoppable combo this team doesn't really come close.

Robson tackles more, offloads WAY more and makes more metres than Api. I like Api a lot and still think he is a chance of a bench slot in game 2 or 3 but Robson also just makes sense.

Question about head knocks and what happens afterwards: Obviously the players don't perform contact training , but do they continue to do running fitness training? If so how long - if there is a general period - would they start up the running training again? I'm of the opinion that running - especially soon after a head knock would be akin to movement of (inside the skull) / small jolts to the brain. Under normal circumstances it might be fine but after a head knock it wouldn't be conducive to a "least damage possible" recovery would it? I could be totally wrong and would accept it, players might not start running for a period after the head knock by standard anyway - but with CTE being such a sad and debilitating issue for ex players and their families, is it worth looking into a period of no running training for "x" days after? My grandmother just had a stroke and while the human brain is an amazing thing especially with the speed of recovery that can occur, i can only imagine how much more difficult it would have been with lots of tiny little jolts from running impact and brain movement.

Madge has done a hectic job in picking an in form team that’ll get it done, there’s always concerns and ppl questioning his selections but nonetheless if he’s confident then that’s that matters. As a Blues supporter, it was just time for a new era and a new beginning. I agree with all Mcguire's selection decisions, especially Edwards over Tedasco. Finally have a coach who picks on form rather than sticking rigidly to past reputation. With the decimated NSW backline i can understand picking Sualii, though i would've picked Ramien. I agree with Buzz, reality is that Sualii Will get paid way more $$$ to do a fraction of work in union, so he'll move onto a rich private Japanese or French rugby union club once he finishes his ridiculously lucrative 3-4 year contract with ARU (which is probably going to bankrupt the ARU). Sualii has always gone where the $$$ is. Jist look at how he turned his back on Rabbithohs & Bennett after gentleman's verbal agreement & then doing complete U turn & instead signing with the Roosters, because they let him keep signing 1 year contract extensions, so he always had the option bugger off to union, which is exactly what hes done. (Im done with rant now, lol) Now tol QLD i agree with all the selections, except Fifita being left out. I understand his lack of workrate in past, but i think he's done a lot of work recently to address this. But Slater is an amazing coach (100 x better than Fittler) so im willing to be proven wrong, lol

Recall Latrell Mitchell for game 2 if the need be because he is and original player who does what any player would do in the origin games, he is always tough and does his job very well as a centre combines very well with the centres.Latrell will be the player to recall if any of the centres do not do their job well in origin 1. Latrell Mitchell will always do better despite his club level situation for 2024. Go blues, go Jtrobovic as new captain you have all our good support as manley fan. Mareta.

Maybe I'm blind, which is quite possible but i just don't see in Nicho what everybody else raves about. Not a bad player but he's not the top tier of halfbacks in NSW. I understand there's a halfback shortage thru injuries but all i see is a long curly haired pretty boy that is inconsistent & if he makes a few mistakes he just loses the plot totally to the point of panic attacks on the field
