As a Mets fan I will admit in June it was looking bleak. I was already wondering what trades/moves Mets will have to make off season. I was NOT expecting them to go this far. The fact that Mets beat Braves, Brewers and then Phillies? No easy task. These were all very good teams. I think a perfect Cinderella story would be to beat the Padres for NLCS then the Yankees in WS.

100% agreement with what Jeter said at the beginning. I looked at EVERYTHING that the Mets did between losing DeGrom, unloading Scherzer and Verlander, starting off this season with such a grim outlook, and going on to having a horrendous first half... and I had nothing but outrage for the whole organization. I feel so humbled by the continued success of the team (even though I'm just a fan and not an analyst, or anything of the sort that tracks everything happening in relation to the team). It was so painful to see the investment bottom out with DeGrom and Syndergaard, then getting a renewed sense of optimism with Scherzer and Verlander replacing them, numbers from the offense but no worthwhile results following.... That's a lot to take in as a fan and spectator, but to see this much of a transformation take place in real time, following the moves that many, myself included, thought would be the end of this team's chance for a postseason run for a year or two... you can't help but silently whisper apologies to the spirit of the team. LFGM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
