We don't know if he's getting the TJ surgery. It's a partial tear and many pitchers have pitched on a partial tear. He could get it obviously, but only time will tell. But the last 3 years? He's easily been the best baseball player and probably had the single best 3 year stretch during the regular season that MLB has ever seen. His WAR is miles above 2nd place in the league, it's crazy. He had a chance to 3-peat for MVP if not for Aaron Judge's historic season last year. Even if his season ends today, he'll still easily win MVP. 2nd place is nowhere close to him.

How about focus on hitting and a closer who only pitch one inning. So rather than being a starter, just be a closer which is as important as an ace pitcher.

And he wasn't fine. He came back as fast as you can...and the first half of the year he had no pop. Just now back to being the real Harper. That is BEST case scenario for Ohtani. And that's just as a hitter. Pitching days are over. If he's smart about his career.

Baseball is a sport where no matter how good an individual player is, you’re going nowhere if he’s all you got no matter how much money you throw at him. The Angels have two elite players in Ohtani and Trout and are still sub-500 when they play together. But if fans are willing to stuff your pockets, by all means, cash in.

Sometimes on these shows we argue just to argue. No fathomable way is he getting a 1 year deal. His next deal will make him the highest paid athlete in professional sports. He’s already the GOAT baseball player of all time, and his 3 year stretch arguably makes him the single greatest athlete ever in team sports

What are you all talking about? Lamar and RG3 running ability help them play QB, but Shohei’s pitching and hitting are totally unrelated to each other. TJ is a risk for EVERY pitcher, everyone knew it might happen to him- so there’s no discussion here.

It's funny hearing non MDs talking about this stuff and neither guy knows baseball. It's his bottom hitting hand. Swing a bat. The medial elbow (where UCL originates and inserts) isn't involved much. He'll be fine as a hitter (a year or so after UCL repair). Look at Harper. Just now getting back to 100%. Pitching? Who knows. If he's smart he'll just stop. If you guys 'want to get a doctor' on the show, get an orthopod who does elbows. You're wasting your time with anyone else.

Ohtani needs to pick one hitting or pitching? There's a reason that all of the other teams haven't allowed players to do both because it's too taxing on the body and you risk losing a versatile player to injury. He's not the first batter that could also pitch...there's been plenty over the years but teams only allowed them to pitch and occasionally hit only on the days they pitched. The Angels were arrogant and thought they were smarter than everybody else and now they're paying the price. He'll probably keep DH'ing for the rest of his career (the guy's not even a real position player) he's soooooooo overrated!!!
