As an Irish person I will always be grateful to Shane long for his goal vs Germany at the aviva and this was an incredible episode and loved the hurling talk too

Shane is a great lad. Started football later than most professionals. According to Glen Little, he couldn't make a 10 yard pass when he got to Reading at 18, yet he went on to play in the Premier League for years. He might not have been the most gifted footballer, but he worked his arse off to make the most of what he did have.

My nanny’s uncle moved to England and settled in Stratford upon Avon. I remember coming down to Wilmcote to visit my cousins (his son and kids). My cousins said, oh you better come with us to collect your cousin (their daughter) as she does ballet with Ben Foster’s daughter and he sometimes picks her up. I was an 18 year old goalkeeper from Ireland and playing for Myerscough at the time, a big fan of Ben who I believe was playing for WBA. I went to ballet probably the only time I ever did but unfortunately Ben wasn’t on daddy duty that time 😅

English big boys givin it the big one in the comments. Yeah we're shit but at least we realise it. Yer great at whipping Macedonia, Lichtenstein and Andorra in qualifying and shitting yerselves when its put up to ya in the tournaments.🇪🇸
@thinkofitthisway7804Ай бұрын
No point in criticizing England, Alan. We (Ireland) are shit as you quite rightly point out, but England are light years ahead of us. Do you remember 6 or 7 years back when England were nothing to write home about? Well, they learned from their mistakes, changed their game around, and are now a match for any team in world football. We on the other hand haven't learned a damn thing and are stuck in a time warp as far as football ability.

Professional footballers don’t train ? What are you on about. We don’t have the players of high quality any more it doesn’t mean they aren’t training ffs
@thinkofitthisway7804Ай бұрын
@@walshknwsbest Talking about training - I coached a team of kids not so long ago to play out from the back, pass the ball and keep it away from the opposition while finding space away from their markers, with a goal of creating a goalscoring chance or two. The team had very little know how to begin with, so it was quite satisfying to see them achieve that small feat after four or five days. The point I'm making is, if I (or anyone else for that matter) can take the time to teach such basic football traits to kids on the training ground, why can't a squad of experienced professionals do the same thing? Does this Irish team consider it beneath them to have to do the basics on the training ground? Maybe they do, but the evidence is there for all to see - this Irish team cannot even get the basics right against whatever international opposition they face.

Biologically speaking there are no races, we're all too genetically similar apparently. Looking at it from the evidence of your own eyes, there's Caucasians, East Asians, Africans, Amerindians, Australoids. Irish like Swedes are obviously Caucasians. You put 10 White Irish together and 10 White Swedes together, you could easily tell the difference, but yeah, still not really a different race, just different blend of Caucasian I guess you could say.
