Thanks for the shout out Patrick/James/Motion RC! Head-tracking FPV in jets is truly thrilling, especially like the way you fly - low, fast and close to the tree line. Great flying! Great Fun! “Fly from the cockpit!”

Current FPV and Head-tracker vendors make people jump through hoops to set one up. Wish Motion can offer an HT FPV all-in-one plug and play solution - including pan and tilt gimbals (small enough to fit tight cockpits).

Alpha MRC With the right head-tracker setup, ie. 1:1 camera to head movement, it’s completely natural to look ahead into direction of turn - just like full scale flying! I like how the major looks to the side during loops to check pitch orientation once horizon move below cockpit.

@@motionsic I agree, which is why Head Tracking is the only way I can fly FPV within an enclosed cockpit. On a wing or drone, fixed/wide is fine

Agree. I do that all the time on my FPV Su-35 to make sure I have a mental position of where I am relative to the runway at all times. Particularly important if there are no-fly zones in the clubs where you operate which is more the norm than the exception ;)

I've been flying FPV planes for a couple of years now, it's supergreat. Tilt added to pan for camera is not per se necessary but makes it even more realistic. There's a little button on the headtracker so you can reset before the start to your "level" head position.

What kind of head tracker were you using? I didn't see a cable running from your goggles to your transmitter, was it some kind of wireless set up? I saw where you said your pan servo was plugged into the plane's receiver, so I assume it must be going through your transmitter somehow. VERY NICE FPV project 👍👍👍 BUT... I would eliminate the canopy rails in the front, they block the forward view way to much 😣😣😣 Having a single piece, clear canopy would improve the FPV experience of this plane so much more. Who cares if it was a little less scale, a clear canopy would make this experience 100 % better.

Thanks for commenting. Great idea for sure, but personally I like the rails as it gives a more realistic feel to it.

Like I said earlier that I have flown my jets Fpv and the head tracking modules for fat sharks seem to be difficult to find now a days. So, I recommend anyone seriously considering doing this and own fat sharks, start looking now for the head tracking module. This is a great experience but it still doesn’t replace the old fashion LOS flying as far as my experiences.

Yeah and now what it needs is HUD telemetry esp an airspeed indicator.

@@racerx600rr airspeed, flap position would be good. A landing gear indicator could just be a green LED on the dash in front of the camera in the field of view. A large antenna embedded in the vertical tail fin on the aircraft and an external antenna jack for head unit too l'm thinking.

@@racerx600rri don't know how you'd exactly do it, but the airspeed indicator should actually read the indicated airspeed of the plane like in a real plane. Using a gps is no good. It kinda needs to work off dynamic pressure like a real plane so you can actually control the speed of the plane regardless of what the wind is doing. This way you can land using the 'numbers' and know when to expect a stall and what speed to flare.

@@MotionRC it's awesome! I'm yet to put one in an EDF but it works great in everything else. BTW love that you have a additional heli/drone field. If i took my fpv drone stuff to our AMA field the guys would chase me out instantly. Very frowned upon here. 🤷‍♂️. Great video!
