i know this is viewed as the ultimate sad/depressing music but to me this is perhaps one of the most beautiful and honest pieces, its just like life, everything is there, downs and ups, despair and hope, fear and joy, doubt and certainty, love and need, amazing composition

My grandma died this morning. Heh, i remember the times when i was at her house, sitting on this bench around a big table. Her hands were constantly shaking, so when she'd bring tea on the trays she'd spill some. Then when she'd put the tray down, she would say "Pazi, da ne boš kej polil" which translates to "Be careful not to spill it". Then in her last few days, her memory had almost completely gone. She didn't remember her own son or anyone but my grandpa. We knew it was coming but it just so happened to be this morning. Rest in peace.

What I find so striking about the Era of classical music is how intelligent their music is. It helps stimulate and set an environment for deep thought and introspection. It seems the classical greats were philosophers of their own accord and in their own expression.

Yes and guys like Chopin are the best of them. For me Beethoven and Chopin are the 2 greatest piano composers because there compositions showed the creativity and deepness of the human mind and touched the listener's soul then and even now.

The funeral march itself is sombre, as expected, but the bittersweet middle section speaks of the person's life, the ups and downs, the achievements and the failures and the happy memories that will now fade into the past. This is a very human piece from a very human composer.

At the start, the chords are like a heartbeat; consistent and dark. It continues, shadowed and steady. The melody is a lonely figure trudging through the darkness of life... sometimes finding a bit of hope, others falling down. It continues on, trying to find a way to get up, get to the mountain of success that will never be reachable, trying to escape the darkness enveloping its lonely world. But it never will. It thinks of the past, the happy days that have faded like light during a sunset. It's happy for a moment, a temporary segment of time, then it trudges on again, forgetting the memories and forgetting itself. The heartbeat returns, dark and solemn and deep in its chest. It falls, lays there for a while. What's the purpose of all this? Why must it reach that mountain of success? Why? It manages to get up; barely, but manages. The mountain looks further away, harder to reach. It falls again, but this time it doesn't get up. It stares at the sky, stares at the darkness around it. What's the point? Why should it get up again? It is so tired, so tired. It doesn't even know what's going on anymore. What's the point? It never gets up again.

A master piece, so much more than most understand. A story of life, the ups and downs all taking you on the journey of life.

This is one of the most Unique pieces i have ever listen to and, could enjoy when i’m not feeling all that well. So, just, smooth and relaxing with that kind of depressing and saddening feel

Chopins music just hits a certain emotion thats hard to describe somber yet at peace. The raw amount of emotion he puts into his work is one of the best, he truly makes the piano sing. The reason i believe this is one of the best eras of music is amount of thought they put into their work. No auto tune. No they let the instruments do the singing, (aside from opera which i enjoy also). No distractions from technology nor constantly compering to another. Just them and their raw originality. it was alot more complex as well using more then 3 chords for example Bach. They put in their: passion, intelligence, thought, Everything they had they put into their music. Nowadays i feel most just do it for money not even putting in a quarter of the amount of energy they did in this era. Dont get me wrong i like all music. I may be partial to certain genres but i appreciate it all

To me, this beautiful piece is perfect peace. There is so much relaxation in it, I feel so much more calm when I hear it. Somehow, it feels like a warm and soothing cup of herbal tea.

Such a beautiful and powerful piece of music. So much raw emotion. My favourite song to play on piano by far.

This amazing piece of art inspired Jim Johnston to create The Undertaker’s theme song. And as a tribute, this should be played at Taker’s retirement or final match.

I remember my first time hearing this as a teenager. I tuned into our local classical radio station right at the moment the "trio" section from the Funeral March was playing. I remember thinking, "How simple and quaint, I could play that." Then came the main theme of the march, which took me by surprise, as I didn't know at the time that the Funeral March was part of a larger work. Next thing you know, the finale played and I was at once speechless, immobilized, transfixed. Almost in shock. I knew at this moment that Chopin was and is the TRUTH.

This is also just one of four movements in his sonata. It's by far the longest, though.

The best classic romantic composer of the romantic era time. He was better the Franz Schubert even though Schubert has more and better songs people think. But the fact is that Chopin was the best of his era in the romantic era

"It would be impossible to pass in silence the Funeral March inserted in the first Sonata, which was arranged for the orchestra, and performed, for the first time, at his own obsequies. What other accents could have been found capable of expressing, with the same heart-breaking effect, the emotions, the tears, which should accompany to the last long sleep, one who had taught in a manner so sublime, how great losses should be mourned? We once heard it remarked by a native of his own country: "these pages could only have been written by a Pole." Franz Liszt

I was playing classical music since age 4 until age 18, piano lessons and all that stuff and never realized that this was in a Chopin Sonata. The entire Sonata is lovely. This is a bit lugubrious but not sad. It's more a piece of strength in the face of the truth. Sort of like the poem by Dyan Thomas, "Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night".

The music that speaks the loudest to me has no words, contrived in emotion and can speak forever in any generation to come, inspiring our feelings and telling us a story of the past through emotion.
