Read---> Pope Francis admitted for the first time Tuesday that nuns have been sexually abused by priests and bishops in the Catholic Church - and even held as sexual slaves. In one case, the abuse was so serious that an entire congregation of nuns was dissolved by former Pope Benedict, CBS News reported. “There are some priests and also bishops who have done it,” the pontiff told a reporter during his return flight from the United Arab Emirates, where he held the first-ever papal Mass in Abu Dhabi. His admission followed a rare outcry last week from the Vatican’s monthly magazine Women’s Church World over the sexual abuse of nuns and religious sisters feeling forced to undergo abortions or raise kids not recognized by their fathers. The February edition included the pope’s own take on the scandal - which the Vatican has long known about - in which he blamed the unchecked power wielded by priests and higher clergy for the crimes. Francis conceded on his flight Tuesday that it was a problem and said more action was needed - insisting that the will to confront the abuse was present. “It’s a path that we’ve been on. Pope Benedict had the courage to dissolve a female congregation which was at a certain level, because this slavery of women had entered it - slavery, even to the point of sexual slavery - on the part of clerics or the founder,” he said. A Vatican spokesman confirmed to CBS News that the order of nuns dissolved under Benedict was the Community of St. Jean in France. The Saint Jean order was dissolved in 2005, the first year Benedict served as pope, though the reason it was disbanded had not previously been made public. “I would like to underscore that he was a man who had the courage to do many things on this topic,” Francis said of his predecessor, who stepped down in 2013. The pope said the problem only existed in “certain congregations, predominantly new ones and in certain regions more than others.” He said the Catholic Church “shouldn’t be scandalized by this,” adding that “there are steps in a process,” and “we are working on it.”

All religious are in my intentions every day as is the church and souls in purgatory. I specifically mention the faithful priests because their hands are consecrated and they make the sacrifice of the mass possible for us, through Jesus of course. Plus I did not notice any nuns in the video.

@@cressacarmel3320 You make a good point. Cressa. In fact, secular criminals exist in, perhaps, far greater numbers then the molesting, and corrupt priests of today's church. However, most priests ( and other charlatans in the religion business) have studied theology to the extent that they must realize the stories in the bible, Que'ran, Hadiths, Talmud, and Torah are fabrications. To teach children and ignorant adults fables and fairy tales, and convince them that they are in fact, true, is tantamount to deception. To then, take money for said story telling, is then, theft by deception. Finally, to use fear tactics and false trust, to get into the pants of child, is, in my opinion, lower that low. I might also add, there are many "secular" individuals who do good for others, on a regular basis, purely from their hearts and without the need or demand for reimbursement. cressa, in my opinion, the superior moral individual is one who does for others purely from his / her heart, without the need to look favorable in the eyes of a make believe "Heavenly father". Cressa, are you aware that the man you refer to as Pope Benedict XVI, when informed about the pedophile priest scandal, suggested that the various diocese' try to hide the criminal priests, 'until the statute of limitations had run" ? Please read the correspondences between the man you call Cardinal Pell, and Ratzinger, recently brought to light in the case recently heard in Australia. What say you of this? The HIGHEST PRIEST, the so called VICAR OF CHRIST, knows of child sexual abuse within the CHURCH OF CHRIST, and suggests the criminals be protected, at the expense of the innocent children victims. @@danieldellamarine1363 Since when do evangelists avoid sinners? I often wish Rogan would get a decent Christian apologist on his show. I started listening to him when I was an atheist and I listen rarely enough now but he has a very open mind and is a natural mediator who asks good questions that I think often speak to what most people want to ask but might not bother. So I think it would be good. Trent Horn might be good either. Someone who is used to podcasting.

Second, Father Mike wouldn't avoid him because he's a SINNER, but because of the language altogether, and Father might want to be careful about indirectly promoting some of the content from that show. Third, Joe is an EXCELLENT interviewer. Finally, Joe was raised a Catholic but now, according to Wikipedia, believes that the Catholic Church is one of the most "oppressive" organizations in the world, and many of his viewers likely feel the same way. But that's why Jesus had to come. Jesus died for our sins so we could be free. I'm not denying that what you said about the nuns and priests is wrong. Really, that is horrible, and the church should be working to fix that. But the thing is, the church is sinful like us, but Jesus still loves it and doesn't reject it. Even though we are sinners and actually we don't deserve his love because of what we have done, he still loves us with an everlasting love and pours himself out for us.
