The Joy of the Faith indeed! Praising God all the way! Even throughout my 25 years away from church and the sacraments, I always felt Jesus right there with me, patiently waiting, nudging me (even as I called myself a “recovering Catholic” and “spiritual not religious”) and mostly just loving me no matter what. I was actually able to attend Mass and receive the Eucharist yesterday! I happened to pop in the church for private prayer 😉 just as the Mass was setting up to be live-streamed and after it was shut off, I was able to receive the Eucharist! I almost cried! It surprised me how very much agony it’s been not to be able to actually receive! Yes, I’ve made “spiritual communions”... just can’t compare!

Is comedy and exuberance in priests a positive development from the self-restraint, modesty, and gravitas of most pre-Vatican II priests and especially the saints? Even St Phillip Neri in his use of humor to attract souls to the way of salvation maintained these virtuous qualities. "Feelings are like waves, often wonderful to ride on but impossible to build on." The desire to be entertained needs to be mortified, especially in the most sacred matters, those of faith, morals, and worship.

He has interesting things to say, but he is wrong about the bacon thing. Jesus said "I did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it". He never said it was ok to eat pork. Just because he fulfilled the law doesnt mean we can break it. Ask yourself, are you fulfilling your marriage vows? Yes? So does that mean you can now be unfaithful? Think about it.

Peter's vision: www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+10%3A9-16&version=NIV . Bacon is fine!!
@childofhashem73504 жыл бұрын
@@TeresaWolfe I'm sorry, but you neglected to read on... many people think he is speaking about food... he is not speaking about food, but of people. Read the whole thing and you will see the truth. The answer is in verse 28. If you read all of the Bible and understand that Jesus was and still is a perfect Jew, you will understand that God sent His Son as an example for us. He showed us how to live. He did not come to abolish the Law. But to show us how to live it out. And yes, not eating bacon is one of them.... but more importantly, loving God and your neighbor. If Jesus would have taught us that eating an unclean animal was ok, then he would have been a false prophet, not the Messiah. And you and I both know that He is the Messiah. So if He is the Messiah, then He would not speak against God's Law, only rabbinic, man made laws. I hope this makes sense to you and to others. Blessings to you.....
