Just to say that this review really convinced me to buy my first skates since my 1998 fitness K2s! Yeah, I'm a 40 yo dad getting back in shape... :) After watching many hours of videos about these ''mysterious'' triskates by Ricardo, Tiago, Asha, Loco Skates,Bill, Thirty_and_rolling and you, I went with the FR3 instead of FR1 for budget reasons, but your review and relaxed skating style really talked to me, so thanks for taking the time to do such an analysis. The 110 wheels really make a difference on my rough small town roads. I did have to heat mold them a bit though, widening them at the foot arch and narrowing at the forefoot. But since I got the fit right, they really feel like an extension of my body! They work great for small sidewalks jumps, light slalom and downhills , all along my 30 km fitness runs. I feel like entering a whole new world of possibilities and now work on my speed skating technique and power stops. So yeah, sincerely, thanks again!

Holy cow, I just skated in the FR1 310's for the first time today.... I didn't think I'd ever feel like this on skates. It's so buttery. Silky. I honestly just wanted to be outside all day. Thanks for the video and info it definitely influenced me to pull the trigger even with the price tag. I'm just a casual skater who had some K2's that I got for like $100. They were cool but TRIskates are a lot funner imo and FR you can just tell they are a cut above with everything.

Nice video! Your conclusion is pretty much as I expected, I have the fr1 310, and I can see the advantages of a slightly shorter frame, as well as the even spacing of the wheels. By the way, I have both a 2015 and 2016 model fr1, and the 2016 had the upgraded liner, but I still prefer the 2015 model! Thanks for the complete review! I am more into transitions to backwards skating and 180 jumps for the time being, so I suspect I might appreciate the slightly longer Seba 310 frame for slightly more stable landings. I want to do more jumping and I want to absolutely avoid wobbling on fast downhills. I also love doing speedskating double push sessions, so the Seba frame ticks more boxes indeed.

This is a great review, thanks. Like your videos nothing 's left to imagination which in this case is the expected and also great speech skills which for a non native Englush speaker is just perfect. I am having the opportunity to choose between the FR1 310's and the Twister Edge's. Besides the usual problem people have with feet width on the Twisters people praise them for its lightness and less bulkiness compared to the FR1's. I travel quite a lot for work reasons and in my spare time try 2 go exploring the different places l travel in my inlines so volume and weight is important for luggage purposes. About narrowness of the Twister l believe i can do the trick with a heat gun as l saw in your tutorial vid and others but anyway people praise the FRs quite much for overall quality, durability etc. so lm in a struggle trying to decide which pair should buy. Not asking you to decide for me, of course but l would appreciate an honest opnion. Note: Both are second-feet (😄) stuff and l will buy them online so no chance to try them until the purchase's made. Where l live is easier to win the lottery than finding a skate shop. Thanx a zillion.

Great review. So when do the stability issues arise? Is it when you are going fast? And is the better control you experienced have to do with making better turns and stopping compared to riding on 4 wheels? I'm really curious if 3-wheel skates would be good for roller hockey?
@whittyskater3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. They are pretty stable even at high speeds but if you go really fast you will get some speed wobble because the frame is short. Yes the better control means I could turn and stop in them almost ad good as 4x80. Personally wouldn't want to use them though for hockey. Too high off the ground and think you will hurt your ankles with all the quick movements involved. A tri skate with much smaller wheels might work though but not convinced.

Hi Whitty! Thanks for your awesome review and videos! I wanted to ask you about the boot. I also own that model of FR1, and long time ago I had Seba FR1 (2013 model). Thing is, the Boot in FR1 is definitely different, worse, it causes abrasions on the inside of the foot in the place where there are rivets for the lower buckle, which causes painful blisters. I tried to use heat gun to adjust the shape, wear 2 pairs of socks, but that changed nothing, blisters appears after 30minutes of ride, and the pain kills all my joy :( Do you have any suggestions what other boot from different FR/Seba model (so it would fit the frame) I could use as an alternative for that one, or I just should buy new pair of different skates? If so, any advices which skates would you suggest? Thanks!

Hi Mate, I appreciate the review. I am considering getting the FR1 Deluxe Intuition skates, because the sizing is a little different and because I fall in between sizes in the other skates. My feet are 24cm long and 9-9.5cm wide, so about regular width according to some online charts. Would you mind mentioning your foot length and width? I'm trying to get a sense of whether the FR1 Deluxe would fit me. The skate size I'm looking at is 23-24cm, so I would be right at the top of that range, and I'm hoping that would mean not only a good performance fit, but that the length to width ratio would work out for me. I have another question. How high do you feel the heel raise is in these skates relative to other skates you've tried? Do you find your center or gravity over the balls of your feet, or are the pretty evenly distributed? I'm kind of having an internal debate as to whether I should get a raised heeled skate like the FR, or a skate that's completely flat like the K2 Uptowns, because I don't like shoes with any kind of heels in them and much prefer flat shoes as I feel more ankle stability and maneuverability in flat shoes, and I like my weight evenly distributed over my entire foot as opposed to being on the balls of my feet... but I just don't know if that same logic applies to skating. Maybe that's a strange concern for some people, but I would love to hear your thoughts on this if you have any.
@whittyskater2 жыл бұрын
About 28cm long and 9.5 cm wide. I'm not sure how they size the FR1 deluxe but i have a medium intuition with a 42 shell FR1as the intuition allows you to downsize. My fr310s are a eu43. The stock liner is much thicker than an intuition. With regards the heel all FR1s come with a removable heel insert. So you go flat or raised
@mountainpeakcloud84422 жыл бұрын
@@whittyskater Thanks so much, that's good to know. I actually ended up getting the FR1 with the regular liner in a size 37 which is 23.5cm, so I'm hoping it will fit my 24cm long, 9.5cm wide feet. Good to know about the removable heel insert.

Hey hope you are well - and staying healthy / safe in these times. Really enjoying your content, and had a question, if you have time. I really liked you FR reviews, and am considering getting a pair. But I am torn between rollerblade endurance 110, rollerblade maxxum 125, and those FRs. I’d say I am an intermediate-advance skater, enjoying city skating as well as long distance skating, and whenever I find a nice long hill, really love flying down them. I am leaning toward FR because 125 feels cumbersome (and potentially not as easy in downhills, and Endurance feels not as versatile since they are more marathon like - but I am concern I’ll lose some of the speed I might be able to get on Maxxum and Rollerblades with FR. Any thoughts? Second questions - How do those FRs fit? True to size / smaller / larger? I wear US Men 10.5 - 11 shoes, and my current skates rollerblade 90MM (soft) and they are 11, and I am happy with that. Thank you!!

Thanks for watching my channel. It's hard for me to comment on th RB because I have never rolled them. In terms of the FR they are a great all around skate. The 110 I think is good balance between speed and being able to turn. I've use 125s in the past but don't like how slow they turn. I went with my regular shoe size. Length wise they were spot on. Nice work :-) May I ask how tall are you? I started on 243mm long 3x110s and later gradually switched to much longer frames and I realized that I should have started on those which would have prevented a lot of falls in the beginning. I am 187cm, sg. like 6'2". I wonder why nobody started recommending frame sizes based on body length which is actually the most important factor related to stability. Just like with skiing. And there is a fair amount of common aspects between the 2 sports. Sometimes foot length is considered, but I think it is not that important. Also for crossovers, longer legs help a lot, which is usually directly related to body length. You will probably still improve on the shorter frame, but there are certain moves which are much easier on longer ones. Also I do a fair amount of hills where stability is even more important with the higher speeds. You could probably also try to get a smaller shell and a thinner liner. My feet are also super narrow: 294mm but I can use a 43-44 PS Imperial shell. All that said you could maybe guess that online material of Leon Basin and the Shop Task guys helped a lot with my evolution for the perfect inline skating gear. I feel I start to belong to their church :-)
@whittyskater5 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I'm 178 cm tall. I agree that the taller you are the longer frame length you probably want as it will effect your centre of balance. I don't do alot of fast or downhill skating so I don't mind having a shorter frame. I personally like the shorter frame as I prefer control over speed. Narrow feet are a problem! I also own some imperial boots which are narrower than either my Seba or FR, but unfortunately they rub my ankle. Leon and Shop Task are amazing to watch on their wizards. Would love to try wizard skates to see how much control you get with a longer frame.
@balazstudos38585 жыл бұрын
@@whittyskater As much as I like the Imperial boot as much I almost hate myfit liners. Bulky and some seams totally at the wrong place. The model second skin is probably a bit better. You should try the Intuition liners. Aren't those Imperials rubbing because they are too big? My first 45/46 shell Imperial was also similar. But the 43/44 with the Intuition liner is just perfect. I won't say it is comfortable stepping in, but I can skate for hours without any issues. If you listen some of the Mushroom Blading podcasts featuring Leon he sort of admits that the Wizard frame idea came up to make the life of beginners super easy. Anybody a bit more serious about inline skating should be able to achieve a big part of the feature set of a Wizard frame. The most important part is correct wheel rotation, but combining used and brand new wheels is easy. I have bought solid speed skating frames and I put a 2mm smaller wheel to the front and 1mm smaller to the 4th place. If a Wizard was available for the 165 mount I would probably already own one though. And I also still enjoy putting back my triskate sometimes.
@whittyskater5 жыл бұрын
My Imperial is the 43/44 which is about the same as my other skate sizes so I don't the size is too big. I think the rubbing is a comination of the liner and the insole. Something rubs just below my ankle. To be honest I have not used them for ages. I should probably give them another go. I would love to try intuition liners as most people say they are the best. But they are very expensive! I've also been hoping they would release a wizard frame with a 165 mount. That would be cool!
@balazstudos38585 жыл бұрын
And what is your foot length? No more personal questions - I promise. That's the shity part of the double sized shells, you might be just unlucky. But for me the 43/44 Imperial seemed to be just impossibly small with the original liner. I almost couldn't get into it. Maybe check how much space there is if you step into the shell without the liner. There shouldn't be much. And yes they are expensive, but they look damn cheap after 3-4 attempts to find a properly fitting non custom skate. Leon also reacted with a kind irritation on comments about the price. He said: come on, it is a 2 day ski pass :-) And they decided not to make a 165mm mount version 'cause their background is agressive skating and they wanted to keep some part of the feeling if I understand correctly. Don't search for the rational reasons, that's part of the religion already.
@whittyskater5 жыл бұрын

Good review. How does the FR1 310 compare to a 4 x 80 mm skate in terms of agility and speed? I ask as I have 4 x 80 mm (Bauer x300r), 3 x 100 mm (Powerslide Zoom Pro) and 3 x 110 mm (Rollerblade RB 110) skates. The last one is MUCH faster than the others (which are about equal) but it has a 255 mm frame length, and it is not agile, quite the opposite. It’s obviously more for speed and/or distance. I wonder if your FR is both fast AND agile due to the 230 mm frame length.
@whittyskater4 жыл бұрын
So I can only compare skates I own. So if I compare my FR1s with a 3 x 110mm and 4x80mm the 110mm is faster but less agile. I don't own other 110mm frames so all I can really say is the relatively short frame that cames with the FR310s makes them both fast and fairly agile but if you are used to a 255mm frame length you might find them less stable.

That's great you just the FR3s. I think the FR1 just has slightly different frame and wheels. I think you should be able to use the seba colour kits. As far as I can tell the FR boot is the same as the 2016 and 2017 Seba boot.

Yes you can. You just need a 165mm compatible frame. I've used 4x80 and 4x90 with this boot.
@carlbeeth4 жыл бұрын
I also bought these and would not recommend them. I bought the red ones and the problem is that contrary to SEBA FR1s the cuff plastic in these is the same as the boot plastics and much much too hard so if you skate with any intensity you'll rip your calves to shreds. I ended up mounting my old SEBA High cuffs which are not a perfect match but so much more comfortable. Hey Seb and co you can do better!

First,thank you for these vids! I have looked long and hard for someone who can actually teach as well as you. I am an a petite older woman who has been skating on in-line 4 wheels for recreation for some time (love it!) but still never mastered the art of stopping 😢 (but I just checked out your stopping video and will give it a try) I can’t afford to hurt myself at my age so I need a lot of stability and I don’t care about speed or tricks but I would love to go on rougher trails. Do you think I should attempt 3 wheels or just bite the bullet and stay with the 4? (do you have a recommendation on brand? I have very small feet) Thank you in advance.
@whittyskater4 жыл бұрын
I think you can try 3 wheels if you want to. If you have small feet maybe 3x100mm or 3 x 90mm might work well for you. Your best bet is to contact a skate shop and ask them what skates are available in smaller sizes. Not sure where you are in the world but Locoskates are a shop based in the UK but they have a good website with lots of skates and they ship all over the world.

@@whittyskater What's the difference?
@whittyskater5 жыл бұрын
A fitness skate tends to have a soft boot as compared a hard shell boot. A soft boot is generally a bit more comfy and probably breathes better so your foot won't get so hot. They tend to be less rigid though so are not ideal if you want to do lots of turns and are will also get damaged more easily. A hard shell boot is designed to take more abuse and so is maybe more of an all around skate. Sorry not sure if this is a good explanation.

Hello awesome review, I’m also interested in this skates, but there are some things that I mind, can you help me about that? is easy to control on slopes, easy to manoeuvrable on hi speeds, easy to make sudden stops? There are hi slopes where I live, this skates look really fast but I’m afraid that what if I cannot stop if I need to and hit by a car or hit a person. I’m looking for a real upgrade to my old 96 rollerblades, I tried the fr boot in a shop and it was awesome, but it was a 4 wheeled setup, after thinking about it and many hours of KZbin videos, maybe I could do more with 110mm triskates, more freedom right? The only concern is how to control speed on hi slopes, and there are cars and motorbikes around trying to push you out of the road. 🤔

Thank you for watching! So I use 4x80 and 3x110 on position #3. I prefer to have both frames in the middle. The only thing I do with my 3x110 is to move the front of the frame inwards slightly to make them easier to turn. I only move them though 1-2mm. Hope this helps.

Good video. well thought out and touched the points that every skater wants to know. good that you give them a good couple of months run before doing the review rather than after the first day. with the width. i got a narrow foot as well. would a thicker liner be better than 2 pairs of socks. ok not so bad over the last few days when its been bloody freezing haha. but in warmer weather and summer is there any ventilation to cool your feet down when its warm or hot weather? what is easier skating uphill 4 wheels or 3? or is it 6 of one, half dozen of the other. all the best
@whittyskater5 жыл бұрын
Hey there. Thanks for watching. I wanted to make sure I rolled the skates for a good period of time. I've pretty much used them exclusively for over 2 months. (Just changed to my seba highlights for my previous vid). A thicker liner may work but of course that is an extra expense. Two pairs of socks is working for now! The shell is ok for ventilation although it maybe could be better. I def think skating uphill in 3 big wheels is easier. As long as you approach a hill with some momentum you can maintain speed much easier than 80mm.

Hi Whitty, I am shortly going to buy a pair of FR skates and narrowed my choice between the FR1 or FR2 (x4 80s). I come from a figure skating background and would therefore not consider myself a rookie skater. However, it has been many years since i have rollerbladed. I intend to use the FRs for general skating, recreational and fitness (no jumps or advanced tricks) - more distance skating as an alternative to running. Do you think the additional specs that you get with the FR1 are worth it e.g. better quality wheels, bearings, frame, metal fittings on straps and internal comfort features? Also, I am aware that the FR1s cannot be configured in a rockered set up (FR2s can) and i am wondering if given my ice skating background i should keep that it mind. Comfort is important too. I can see you have been skating for a long time so was interested in the reasons you chose FR1s over FR2s.
@whittyskater3 жыл бұрын
I didn't know the FR2s could be rockered. As you are coming from ice skating that might be the option. Tbh though either will be good. You can always achieve a rocker on the FR1 as your wheels wear or just get two smaller wheels
