Hi Larry, What are you delay settings in the first one please? I have a buddy named Paul Pattan who met you in New York and we learned from you to really get the tones out of all the amps to turn the bass and mids all the way up and start with the treble at half. That delay you did was the same one he said he learned from you. Much Respect! Carl Cranshaw
@LarryMitchellmusic9 жыл бұрын
Hi Carl hmmmmost likely the delay is ping pong but in the video I'm playing in mono through the front of the Marshall. So there's no real ping pong thing going on ;0) if that makes sense. It's set to what ever temp I tapped before the video started. Hi to Paul

Hey LArry great demo and playing as always. How do you get that killer delay at 2:10 ? like a slapback or? thanks
@LarryMitchellmusic9 жыл бұрын
That's just a fitted 8th note delay. With the delay level up even in volume with the original note. The edge from U2. The guys in Hill Song, David Gilmore from pink Floyd Abd ny friend Steve Stevens are big on that. And my friend Jeff Thall was the first person I ever saw do it in person back in the early 80's

Yes there is a pitch block just like the axe fx. And able to play chords. Depending on the setting here I have two settings. One is octave decider. That is single note only but my second setting is the crystals effect. And multiple notes I can play.

Great demo, Larry! A couple questions for you: 1) if you use the expression pedal as a volume control, does it take up one of the effects blocks in the patch? 2) If you use it with the 4 - cable method, do you find it noisy? I use a POD HD 500x, and the Effects Return jack always has a lot of noise on it, requiring me to take up an effects block with a noise surpressor, which I find annoying. Thanks a lot, man!
@LarryMitchellmusic9 жыл бұрын
Yes I have a few presets where the expression o DSL is set up as a volume pedal. One as a whammy. And most of the others as wag pedal if I used two pedals I'd have was a way all the time and the other going from volume whammy to delay level ;0)

Ok so I am on the verge of buying but have hesitation...I was a Line6 endorsee years ago and learned over time that modeling and digital processing tends to diminish the natural character of the guitar. I don't want an over processed signal. My current signal path is a suhr henderson strat, analog pedal board, Ceriatone ODS/Tworock 1x12 or a Fender Deluxe from 2003. I get great Fender clean tones for Jazz or Blues or Fusion styles. Can The FX8 actually replace a traditional analog board? Here your demos show the natural tone of the guitar and then you demo the processed signal and it sounds a bit more organic. In earlier generation processing, like Line6, I don't hear the bloom of the guitar like I do when I hear Scott henderson play through a suhr rig or Jeff Beck through a Blues Jr, etc... I would love for this to work as I am tired of voltage variations and carrying around a heavy pedalboard. Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

Excellent Demo -- would love to see a similar one with a good loop amp. The time effects sounded great (as expected). The OD sounded a little sterile and not recognizable. What would be nice to A/B the digital drive vs real drive it is emulating (if you can dial them in to sound close). On the AF2 I got the Zendrive, BB, and RC to sound pretty close to the real thing -- but that is going through a full digital platform -- would be interesting to A/B some actual real pedals as a point of reference. I have yet to hear a digital od pedal infant of an amp that sounded good. The loop is also a big deal -- that is where you can potentially change the character of the amp. Overall .. I think it was a terrific demo. Thanks for sharing!
@LarryMitchellmusic10 жыл бұрын
I'm working on borrowing and amp with an effect loop and channel switching for maybe next week. I just have all non effects loops amps and non master volume amps.

my concern with this unit is if the setup in editor is a grid with free paths like AxeFX
@mattpicone14669 жыл бұрын
Felipe Santos It is not a grid. Each of the 8 FX can be run in series or parallel to the one before, so in this regard it can do MORE than a grid (ex: 8 FX all in parallel).

@LarryMitchellmusic10 жыл бұрын

@sytsma.justin10 жыл бұрын
The only thing I am usually skeptical of is "digital dirt". I guess I'd really have to hear it through my rig and A/B it to see.
@LarryMitchellmusic9 жыл бұрын
Hi justin One if the cool things you can do is put a couple of dirt boxes you like in the loop before your amp. Dirt is so personal. There's a lot of great options in the FX8 so you could put your favorite dirt box in there and then have other options at your neck and call.

Hmmm they are the same drives in the axe fx if your familiar with those. Plus drives are a personal choice. You might not like the way I have those two (I only demos two out of quite a bit) you might not like the way I set my drive pedals up. My settings. Trust me I have some great friends who like my playing but don't like they way I set my drives settings. I as well am not into their settings but love their playing. We're all friends that's what counts :0) You can also plug your in the loop before the p get to use the wah in the right position :0)

@fottolini9 жыл бұрын
Matt Picone They shipped ten units and don't have any dates for any other units. This can be seen on the FAS forum. There are people really considering getting other gear. This is also clearly stated on the forums. It is always the same issue with FAS! The Axe-Fx editor, for example... Sorry, but it doesn't make sense. One thing is to delay the release date by 1 month, but 6 months? To me, it is clear that they wanted to tease the people ready to buy other gear with a product that was in the early development stages. I am not saying it is a bad product, but I do say it is a bad company with bad practices.
@mattpicone14669 жыл бұрын
Wizard9 A "bad" company means bad people. That would be me, and I'd like to let you know I am not all that bad. I'll also let you know that your other assertions are totally wrong. If you'd like to talk about it, email your phone number to support@fractalaudio.com and I will call you.
@fottolini9 жыл бұрын
Matt Picone I did not say you are bad. I am sure the product is not bad (I said that before), but the market practices are terrible. And that is what I meant by bad. Don't take it personally, because it is not. My point is that telling something is going to be released in on a certain date and release it 6 months later leaves a real bad impression. The Axe-Fx Editor is another example. Took ages to be implemented, and every time I politely asked for it, I was told that it was not needed, that I just wanted to complain, that I was a hater, etc. And the Axe-Fx Editor was sold when I bought my first unit as an integral part of the Axe-Fx. See where I am getting at? I bought 3 units from FAS! 2 Ultras and 1 Axe-Fx II. And let me tell you... I was even considering the FX-8 or even the AX-8, but every time I remember how any kind of criticism is taken, I just think it is not worth going through all the "pain" again. Good products: fact! Bad market practices: fact too! My 2 cents only.
