I love how much more human the threat of black rose makes Ambessa. She always presents as self-assured and powerful. The magic is so mysterious and dangerous - even to her. The assassin really freaked her out.

Jinx definitely was planning to die and have Sevika releasing the Grey into Piltover be her last act. Lines like "Go On. I'm ready" and "This wasn't how it's supposed to [happen]". Ironically (or I guess, expectedly) she even jinxed her own plans.

Ambessa is a great strategist, the stuff she planned she reworks to on the fly based on the situation that's happening. The Jinx attack was just another catalyst to further push her agenda, but you can see when she's talking to Salo that he tells her how the name Kiramman bewitches people, and she reroutes her efforts from one guy with a modicum of influence to one who truly has their heart.

The spell which takes Elora and Mel, looks like a combination of the powers the two Black Rose founders Vladimir and Leblanc have. It's part Vlad's sanguine pool and part Leblanc's ethereal chains. You can also hear both of their voices speaking to Mel in a later episode.

That black rose was such a crazy reveal to me, instantly clicked the rest of Ambessa’s story so far in my head. Doesn’t tell me a “who” but definitely what kind of trouble she’s in.

In the earlier episodes Heimerdinger mentioned that he's seen great mages, healers, create miracles only to too see them fall into ruin. He hypothesizes that maybe it might be the very nature of the arcane itself that brings such ruin, not the users. A cause and effect, the bigger the usage, the bigger the impact. Viktor's peaceful community will, not if, turn into something else entirely. Maybe, something not good.

I think that as far as themes go for magic, it can sometimes be a stand-in for mental illness or at least detachment from reality. I dont see that in season 1 of Arcane much, but it could be part of season two?

here is a fun little tidbit, in season 1 we see a brief glimpse of the picture in Singed's locket. It is speculated by fans that it might be Orianna, another champion from LoL. She is basically a human turned robot (I think its beyond what a cyborg might be considered) from Zaun I believe.
