This is absolutely fantastic, I can't imagine how much work this must have taken I need to really crack down and learn After Effects and how tf formula animation works in MB3D; it's been something I've been promising myself I'd do for a long while -- as such it'd be interesting if I were to bring some of my fractal art into the realm of animation.

Julius, AWESOME! If you combine this with the music of Klaus Schulz (look on KZbin) you can make a movie by following the tune! He has a webpage, if you want to get in touch. A collaboration would create a totally immersive experience!

Awesome work! A mind blowing visual feast! I commented a while back about how I look forward to the day when something akin to your fractal landscapes formed the playable area of a video game and this incredible selection of images is precisely what I had in mind. The inclusion of buildings among the constantly evolving panoramas is just how I imagined the game’s levels might look. I’m over sixty now and not in the best of health and my single biggest regret is that I probably won’t live long enough to see a game featuring landscapes like yours which I could play. So if some ambitious developer gets in touch with you to collaborate on a game please think of me and my dwindling years and get to work pronto. LOL! In the meantime I look forward to your next fantastic video. Keep ‘em coming! Cheers.

Thank you Marc, for the encouraging words. I'm sorry to hear you may not have the time to wait for such a game. Indeed, with current technology it doesn't seem likely to happen soon, because those fractals take weeks to render, and for a game this would have to be instantaneous. There are ways around this of course, so maybe there is hope. For now I'm focusing on linear and pre-rendered work so happy to hear you're also looking forward to that! best of luck. J

It all seems alien yet so familiar. Maybe I'm projecting my sense of knowing onto something non existent. I still don't understand 'why' these (mathematical)patterns are so intrinsic to our aesthetics sensibilities. Is it because our understanding of ourselves is emergent out of these or we inherently are these or simply because of familiarity that is conditioned due to it being around us & in nature & it is the only thing we know ? Any recommendations to further my understanding in this direction.Thank you. Project is dope, inspires to learn & explore new territories. 🔥

One could only wonder what kind of fractals can be created with machine learning (AI). I think such animations suit the way machine learning works.

Are you creating the fractal animations within Mandlebulb3D and then editing the video from that in other software to add additional things (such as buildings)? Its not possible to add external images within Mandlebulb3d is it?

Thank you Julius for keeping up with your awesome fractal art. It was way past the time for the whole Western World to start making art beautiful again, made from skills and creativity. The WW has been making horrendous art out of garbage for at least half a century, stuff that anyone can do, but only the privileged can obscenely profit from. Sadly, all real art is meant to face strong opposition, normally as indifference. So, my sad encouragement is that this is why your videos get rather few visits.

Thank you for the kind words, Manuel. Although indeed my KZbin numbers are not very encouraging, I do get a lot of encouragement from other platforms and places, so I'm not very pessimistic about the potential and future of fractal art.

A good fractal to me is one that has variety, progression, smooth flow, central theme, morphing, lots of nicely blended colors, and with the right level of intricacy. Some of these clips meet those criteria. The one thing that is missing from visual fractals however is auditory fractals that are in synchronicity with the visual fractals. Type in "Autechre - Gantz Graf (Official Music Video) 1080p HD" in the KZbin search bar to know what i mean by synchronicity between visuals and sound.

I know you must be asked this question all the time but how much time did it take to render all that?
@julius-horsthuis4 жыл бұрын
It's very hard to say because this is a compilation reel of my work from the last 18 months or so. But it's safe to assume a few months worth of rendering are in this piece. Here's a short blog post I wrote about this a few years back: www.julius-horsthuis.com/blog/2016/12/11/hardware-and-rendering-for-mandelbulb3d
