Framing Second Story Floor Joists By Myself!

The 2x12 lumber that I picked up a few weeks ago is perfect. The joists are so straight that I can't hardly find the crown in the lumber. It's coming together quick but there's lots of little stuff that has to be done before I can get the upstairs walls up.

It always seems smart to get a shop/house done first. Otherwise its so tough to build the real house w/o a shop to use. I like seeing you doing this on your own - I also am sole builder here and one has to overcome lots of obstacles. My backhoe was also a real 'enabler'. We also did the work with money out of pocket - its done now and is great to not be in debt for a house. BTW-Your son Turk sure resembles you. All the best, I always like your mode of attacking the issues to 'get er done'!

What ever way this plans out , your making this your home before the main work on main house, idea maybe ? Make into a possible holiday rental accommodation once you've fin ja workshop and the house , im sure it could be a small income along the way ? Added to that maybe horses too and package it all together rental with horse trail rides? Anyways taking shape quick . Hope weather is in favor to move this project to complition.

Tesslynn Amburgey , There is that point " public liability insurance " to bypass that you ask all to sign a disclaimer form . At best most that ride know those pit falls i'd hope , but there are those who've never ridden . The Disclaimer form as said would cover that ?

Looks excellent man. As usual, keep up the awesome work! Any plans to get some sort of a retaining wall in place on the hillside of the shophouse before winter? I remember watching videos last Spring and all the issues you had with water, massive snow melt runoff and more erosion? Just trying to help you out so all your hard work and families well being isn't in jeopardy. Again, nice work!
@RedPoppyRanch
@RedPoppyRanch 6 жыл бұрын
I put in an erosion ditch into the hill to divert some of the water coming off of the hill. I may do a rock wall around one area but it's not prone to sliding. We have real hard clay underneath the topsoil. It should be fine. Didn't have any mud slides after last winter and that was the wettest winter in a very long time.

I know you showed Cedar the plans you drew up cause did them at the kitchen table. So why did she say something about the windows. Your wife does not strike me as a woman who can live off the land. She should not be caring a 5 year old boy around like a baby. He will not mature. But man oh man there should be more men like you. Devoted, loving, hard working and smart too. I am looking at a 24' x 30' addition to my house with a living room in the bottom and 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on the top. With the bottom having 2 x 6 walls and it being open and no interior support walls, do you think I could also use 2 x 12' ?

I see that in you just by watching your video. I'm sure you love your wife, most do, but I can't help but see a little bit of "unappreciation" if there was such a word, when your wife came up. I myself would have been doing back flips (yes, I can do them) I would have BROUGHT YOU UP SOMETHING TO EAT, or drink, or kept you company...I dunno, what do I know. Just stay focused and trust me, we're rooting for you all the way! God bless.
