Frances Tiafoe Jr. was born in Maryland on January 20, 1998. The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) has ranked Tiafoe as high as no. 24 in singles, on August 8, 2022. Numbers of aces, not amount.
@AllyGator43712 жыл бұрын
@@sciencekid7565 Shouldn't it be "number of aces," not "numbers of aces"? There is only ONE figure which quantifies how many aces were hit by Tiafoe during the match; there aren't two or more figures quantifying this (the one figure is "18"). So one should say, "The total number of aces from Tiafoe in this match was 18." "Numbers of aces" sounds completely wrong in any context, and I'm a native English speaker.
@AllyGator43712 жыл бұрын
I shouldn't have said, "in any context." "Numbers of aces" would be correctly used here, for example: "The numbers of aces hit by Tiafoe and Nadal were 18 and 10, respectively." Being that I'm using TWO figures/numbers in the sentence, the word "number" would be pluralized.
