Same here, it broke my heart, but during the third set I was pretty sure Rafa would not make it this time, no matter how hard he fought, because Tiafoe was simply succeeding in almost everything he did. His winners to UE's ratio was outstanding. Playing like this, he could probably beat anyone.

Frances Tiafoe Jr. was born in Maryland on January 20, 1998. The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) has ranked Tiafoe as high as no. 24 in singles, on August 8, 2022. He is the son of Sierra Leonean immigrants. No American man has won a Slam singles title since Andy Roddick won the 2003 U.S. Open. Tiafoe is carrying the flag here, an American dream in tennis shoes.

Tiafoe's background story on how he came to have access to a tennis court and coaches shows the importance of mere exposure. How many more champions might we see in various endeavors if societies gave equal opportunity for exposure; not equality of outcome. but equality of access/exposure.

Numbers of aces, not amount.
@AllyGator4371
@AllyGator4371 2 жыл бұрын
@@sciencekid7565 Shouldn't it be "number of aces," not "numbers of aces"? There is only ONE figure which quantifies how many aces were hit by Tiafoe during the match; there aren't two or more figures quantifying this (the one figure is "18"). So one should say, "The total number of aces from Tiafoe in this match was 18." "Numbers of aces" sounds completely wrong in any context, and I'm a native English speaker.
@AllyGator4371
@AllyGator4371 2 жыл бұрын
I shouldn't have said, "in any context." "Numbers of aces" would be correctly used here, for example: "The numbers of aces hit by Tiafoe and Nadal were 18 and 10, respectively." Being that I'm using TWO figures/numbers in the sentence, the word "number" would be pluralized.

Tiafoe you are great!!! What you did will go down in history. I dislike Nadal very VERY much and I am glad you beat him. Thanks to this, Nadal will not win the 23rd Slam and Novak will be able to overtake him next year.

Guys like Nadal and Federer are overdue for their retirement. Make no mistake I think they are among the best players in history of Tennis. But I can see their body starting to struggle and often unable to keep up with the intensity and there are so many rounds to win before reaching final.

Turns out , you , like most of the people commenting in this video, have overseen the fact that : -he had a abdominal tear that limited his serve motion -he played 4 matches before this one after a 35 day recovery period -he won 2 GS this year, deploying physically well considering the foot and the rib Now, in your expert eyes, do you think he is struggling or just missing some rythm due to inactivity after injury? Jesus, people really cant understand a thing about sports

@@adrianbermudez3314 But but but. He lost one match. Isn't that the definition of totally washed up? 😀You really can't help people like Philip Add to that it is only Nadal's decision when to retire, not some fan who overlooks the year's GS titles

It is a Shame Nole couldn't defend points for Wimbledon. It is also remarkable to he is still no 7 in the World despite dropping all those points, more than 6000.00 points. He would have been 1 or 2 in the world if he was allowed to defend Australia, defend points for Wimbledon and defend points for US Open.

Rafa was not even at his 60%. Tiafoe has a long way to go. He did well profiting from a weak version of the GOAT, though. Not everbody can do that.
