I'm glad you were able to spend a few days in LA, and impressed that you were ready to get back on the bike! That Sullivan Fire Road, Mulholland, Westridge loop is one of my favorite gravel rides (partly because it's the closest gravel to my house and easy to ride to).

Dang I wish I’d known you were staying in the states for awhile, I finally escaped the rains of Washington and we drove thru LA area on the 2nd having made it to AZ. Congrats on your fruitful fundraising, Francis, beautiful to see everyone's support. And I think that 200-grand goal would be beautiful, too, and a solo ride across the nation in winter sounds like the dream for fans and supporters like me. Not a bad thing, not a hassle by any means. Plus, well, it would make for quality vids for winter-weary people to watch. And an aside, as one whose childhood was mostly spent in California on a Sting-Ray, anyone who says any of it sucks for cycling isn't much of a rider, don't pay them no mind.

get to the backside of any town in california and you'll get some nice gravelly mountains to ride get to the front side and you'll be at the beach win/win really should have made that left turn to Baja though, even with the crazy weather patterns we're having right now it's probably still pretty nice
