The aliens in the Halo series on Paramount are pretty awesome too, and maybe more on the "organic" side. They could be a cool challenge to draw too! I read Steakley's "Armor" in high school too - I had no idea he had only written that and one other novel, Vampire$, which did get made into a relatively awful movie considering how great the book was...
