Clinton Portis had rare footwork, balance, and vision. One of the truly great running backs from RB U!

Favorite running back of all-time. There have been better runners but Portis remains my favorite. He was such a smooth runner, especially at Miami and in his first few seasons in the league. Even after the injuries robbed him of his speed, he became an efficient power runner. He was also one of the most violent back I've ever seen in pass protection.

IMO the 2001 Miami Hurricanes are the greatest collection of college football talent of all time. And many on that team considered Clinton Portis their best player. The greatest story I ever heard was that in 3 years, nobody ever saw him with a textbook and he didn’t own a backpack 🎒. I always tell my HS students that unless you’re better than Clinton Portis, do your homework.

man he was my fav shame about all the concussions. his decision making skills as a runner were outstanding. as soon as he knew where he wanted to go with the ball he made the cut.

Portis was the best RB in Cane history. Wasn’t my favorite at the time but putting favoritism to the side there isn’t any I’d put over him.

Luc Arce Frank’s a BAD MAN but still can’t see that when comparing their respective ‘U’ years. Clinton by far. Should’ve been top 5 pick in the League that year.

Portis was favorite rb growing up, Den got the better end in the trade for Bailey. But I wonder how Portis' career would have been if he stayed in Denver another 5-7 years.

Gore was faster and McGahee was stronger (maybe faster, too), but Portis was so smooth, so patient, so decisive, and he was able to hit his top gear so quickly that he made it look easy. I'll bet UF wishes they had let him play RB?
