My friend and I went to the Sands in '66, and wanted to see the "Chairman of the Board," who was performing. Ya couldn't get near the place. He said, "follow me!" We went around to the rear entrance, in through the kitchen of the Sands, and right into the room where old blue eyes was singing!! We stood at the back of the room for his whole performance. It was great! Different times, for sure!! Thanks, Frank! RIP

This was just the norm, just another Saturday night for people back in those days . The outfits, the hair, the live band. It was just what happened. We don’t even understand how much we’ve lost in life, no flavor or special moments like these whatsoever

Live, in a supper club, no intrusive mike, making his moves, clicking those fingers, probably some heavyweights in the audience, and he's in rare form, knowing how good he is.

Is there ever a possibility to go back? No, I doubt it very much. Not liking this present world so much. Wish I could go back to the comfort zone of my youth, when Frank, my mom, and so many others were alive and vibrant. Never thought I would develop a deep appreciation for Mr. Sinatra's music/style, but that's all due to my mom.
@JohnDonovanProductions3 жыл бұрын
In the early Fifties Frank Sinatra was the first to put together meaningful albums such as Swinging Lovers or Only the Lonely. Coming out of the world of singles , no one knew exactly how to construct a twelve - song album that worked as a whole. Sinatra excelled at putting together a group of songs from a variety of sources with arrangements that created a mood : sad to the point of being maudlin on No One Cares , which came out in 1957 , upbeat to the point of cockiness on Come Fly with Me. It’s crazy to think that no one really understood how to put together a music album, but that’s the thing about treading on new waters! So for any artist out there wanting to create something new, just think, within the last century, the music album was a new invention.

Nothing in today's society (many women acting like sluts, ghetto life, online trolling, majority of people having bad fashion sense, modern celebrities like Justin Bieber or Kim Kardashian, decline in music quality , Bronies, stupid fads like Gangnam Style and Twerking....to name A FEW things) will cause future generations to say we had class. Unless you think that society will deteriorate even more (we'll turn into cavemen and cavewomen), lol....

Lol you sound like Sinatra wasn't a big drinker and didn't sleep with a lot of women
@tammywatts64748 жыл бұрын
+TheSFCEmpire415 That was pretty normal around his time though. No one cared back in the day
@theblackout278 жыл бұрын
+Tammy Watts It might have been normal (can't say I know of any metric to cite but rather go on intuitive feeling that many artists struggle with some form of addiction). But that no one cared? Sinatra is just a few decades out from the end of Prohibition. It's not like people suddenly thought alcoholism was fine. I'm sure he didn't publicize the fact he was a boozer either. And either way, can't say alcoholism and womanizing was classy, even if "no one cared".

Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away If you could use some exotic booze There's a bar in far Bombay Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away Come fly with me, let's float down to Peru In llama-land there's a one-man band And he'll toot his flute for you Come fly with me, let's take off in the blue Once I get you up there Where the air is rarefied We'll just glide Starry-eyed Once I get you up there I'll be holding you so near You may hear Angels cheer, 'cause we're together Weather-wise, it's such a lovely day Just say the words and we'll beat the birds Back to Acapulco Bay It is perfect for a flying honeymoon, they say Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away Once I get you up there Where the air is rarefied We'll just glide Starry-eyed Once I get you up there I'll be holding you so near You may hear Angels cheer, 'cause we're together Weather-wise, it's such a lovely day If you say the word, we will beat those birds Back to Acapulco Bay It is perfect for a flying honeymoon, they say Come fly with me, let's fly Pack up, let's fly away

I'm estimating that this performance was filmed for a television appearance in 1958 or 1959. I don't believe that Sinatra released the "Come Fly With Me" album on Capitol Records until that time frame, and Sinatra's slender stature and his hairpiece also suggest the late 50s. Sinatra had probably completed filming "The Joker Is Wild" and "Some Came Running" and was about to film "Never So Few".
