My Father knew Steve Lawrence as a boy growing up in Brooklyn. He was friends with his older brother Bernie, and Steve would tag along to the movies, etc. He told me he used to have fun snowball fights with him too. Oh, to have been a fly on the wall then. RIP to a very handsome, very classy, ultra talented man. RIP. I will cherish the note and autographed photo he sent to me for my Father for his birthday that much more now. My sympathies to his family and friends.

Sinatra had a voice and style that is unmatched to this day. In my humble opinion, Steve Lawrence came in a very close second. Fifteen or so years younger than Frank, Steve would never be able to do anything more than be that very close second. Steve had the voice and the charisma, but just wasn't nearly as 'cool' as Frank. Then again, no one in my lifetime could ever be as 'cool' as Frank Sinatra!! In the recent passing of Steve Lawrence, the world has lost the last of it's 'cool'... RIP, Mr. Lawrence. You are the last of that generation and I'm sure that you're happy to be with your wife again and singing with the greats of all time - Sinatra, Bennett, Cole, Armstrong, Fitzgerald, etc, etc,. My only hope is, that when my time comes, I'm allowed to be in the audience of your sector of heaven!

It looks like they had a lot of fun doing this together and have a ton of respect for each other. Amazing to find a career that is so joyful and that millions can appreciate and enjoy!! Feel a bit bittersweet now that all 3 are no longer with us.

It's sad to think within a couple of years Frank would start to "slip" as they say, but because of that I'm very grateful to have this wonderful moment of love, laughter and world-class talent to enjoy forever and ever. I can understand more now than I did before why Steve and Eydie were put off by their portrayals on SNL in the "Sinatra Group" segment as it's clear their relationship with Frank was nothing at all like that.
