This song makes me think of my Dad and my eyes well up in tears every time I hear it. I'm a huge Sinatra fan thanks to my Dad. My son who was born in 81 is a great fan because I played it around him. Thank you for the great reaction. I love the younger generation actually appreciate us older folks music..ps my era was really Frampton, Eagles but I grew up listening to the rat pack...Great! Devin, I love your reaction to the song! Everyone has their favorites, however I prefer Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley’s version of this song. I’m 56 years old and I grew up listening to this among a lot of the other oldies. I just love them and appreciate them so much!

Hey Devin! I love the amazed look on your face when you hear a new artist. I was a little girl and my mom always played Frank Sinatra songs on the record player so I was brought up on his music. He was born on December 12 1915 ,he would've been 106 years old had he lived. He was one of the greatest musical artists of the 20th century. New York, New York and Strangers in the night are a couple of songs that show off his classic voice. It'll be quite a journey going down Ol blue eyes (that's what his nickname was) rabbit hole. 😊🎼🎶

My dad used to sing this around the house,us kids us to laugh {"there he goes again}. Now that he and mother and my younger brother are all gone, I'm the last one standing at age 66, and get goose bumps and tears...I'm the last one standing. It always reminds of my dad. Screw Elvis and the rest, Frank was the first one to record this, with the soft ending for effect, not over the top with the big finish like Elvis...because that's how you really feel, humbled you made it through...none of this "I am the champion' bullcrap." I'd give up any stupid phoney trophy to have them all back. Sinatra said he didn't like the song, it was too self- aggrandizing. But everyone else liked it including the fans, so he did it for the fans in concert. i think the song empowered them to feel good about themselves, and Frank was the person who sing it right and make them feel that. He was really singing about them, not himself. Also Devin, Frank had his troubles like everyone else, and then some, but when he sang he was a master at style, breath control and phrasing.

I have a teenage son, whom is named after Layne Staley of Alice in Chains. I love almost everything except country music. He doesn’t like much of anything 😳, but, we love our Sinatra. He leans towards big band, orchestra’s, but Sinatra gives us time together to appreciate it. Every time. Plus, he’s from Jersey, home team 💪

I love this classic made famous by Frank Sinatra. He sings it slow and passionate and it fits his life. Elvis sang it as well, and I’m an Elvis fan. His tempo was faster, but he didn’t put his passion into it, maybe on purpose.

Thanks a lot! Very pertinent comments, a treat. Huge cover of one of the most worldwide known and covered songs. Claude François' original French version is my fav. I find it more punchy in the chorus due to the outstanding orchestration by David Whitaker. But, but ? don't we forget that in 1968, the iconic David Bowie wrote the lyrics "Even a Fool Learns to Love", set to the music of the original French song. But his version was never released and later Paul Anka bought the rights to the original and rewrote it into "My Way". The success of Anka's version prompted Bowie to write "Life on Mars?" as a parody of Sinatra's recording. Bowie noted that Rick Wakeman "embellished the piano part" of his original melody and Mick Ronson created a fantastic string parts. The liner notes for Bowie's 1971 album "Hunky Dory "indicate that the song was "inspired by Frankie". Bowie, several times sang "My way". Here is an awesome document where David's talking about "Comme d'habitude". A delight. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ommvhqqPmNCob7c

Great reaction, thank you! You absolutely have to hear Frank performing a very uplifting song titled That's Life. Here's the link to the video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ip_PgaeXhd2LnMUsi=JlRy46IVNnhGmDVz It's been colorized, which is okay for those who prefer it, but I find myself disappointed to be no longer able to find the black and white version on KZbin. The trend for colorization was popularized and most implemented by Ted Turner, with protests from many, for his classic movie channel TCM, Turner Classic Movies. Fun facts , Ted Turner and Jane Fonda were married to each other for 10 years from 1991 to 2001. Ted Turner and a man named Reese Schoenfeld co-founded the first 24 cable news channel, CNN. CNN actually stands for those exact words, cable news channel. Nevertheless, that's life is an outstanding performance by Frank Sinatra.

Hey, Devin... Liked your reaction to the man. Sinatra is so chill and effortless... such tone, phrasing, and smooth delivery. He made the most of the potential in the gift he was given by the Lord. Another given a great voice is Tom Jones, a totally different type of voice and so powerful. You should hear his 1971 version of "My Way": kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2qXhn6MqauhntU By the way... you mention your lovely wife and what she creates and offers on her Etsy store. When you put in that brief shot of some of her products, why not include a small pic of her with a smile? That'd be awesome.
