I live a good and happy life. I am not a depressed person. At least not anymore. The conclusion i draw here comes from logic, not subjective emotions. People keep thinking that I'm depressed because I made this video. Nah/

Just because I know of something objectively, it doesn't mean that I should "do it". It's objectively true that most men will have desire for women other than his wife. It's objectively true that men are hard-wired to "cheat"...putting it bluntly, but does that mean one should? Objectivity doesn't always lead to the right kind of behavior. Time and space are not objectively what they seem from the physics' standpoint, but no one's going to act accordingly to "objective time"

And you are contradicting yourself. My time spent on bodybuilding is not natural at all. Bodybuilding is a very artificial sport. According to my argument, bringing a baby is bad because existence is bad, since it by default entails suffering. Am I hurting anyone by bodybuilding? I doubt it.

for the 100000000000000000000th time, I am fine with my own existence because I happen to be one of the more fortunate individuals (although not 100 percent), but for the majority of the organisms on this planet, existence is mostly suffering. And even if I want to end my own life, we are programmed to self preserve at all cost, thus making suicide just about the most difficult thing there is in existence. Jeez people need to WATCH THE GODDAMN VIDEO every question has been addressed

without suffering one cannot experience pleasure, therefore the suffering is requisite to seek fulfilment. This enables advancement. Without life this is not possible.

Nothing matters objectively, and your values are unique to you. Even feelings you feel are result of a subconscious, involuntary value your body gives. I dont kill myself cuz i wanna fuck around a little bit and enjoy having consciousness for a while.

I agree with this 100%. Having kids is the most unknowingly selfish act a person can commit. They didn't ask to exist, and you're gambling on their life just so you can feel this illusion called "happiness," and so others will think of you in a better light. As always, great video, Frank.

Why don't you watch the fucking video. 1. We are programmed to self preserve at all cost, thus making suicide extremely difficult, therefore to prevent another life from not wanting life at all, do not even let it come into existence in the first place 2. i enjoy my life quite a bit, but that doesn't mean everyone is fortunate enough to experiences more pleasure than pain.

You are missing the whole point.I do these things precisely because I find the universe extremely meaningless.I am sure a lot of other artists and musicians and philosophers will tell you the same thing.Making meanings for oneself is as "natural" as the need for food and sex.It's the same reason why a hungrier person will do more for food than a full person. I am trying to PREVENT more meaningless lives from coming into existence, but for those of us who are already here, make the best out of it

And what exactly, are the 'beatings, rapes and humiliations' of life that make life so unbearable to live?
@frankyang
@frankyang 12 жыл бұрын
Of course i am aware of this fact. As a matter of fact, i stated clearly in the video and in various comments that just because we are programmed to do something, it does't mean that we "ought" to. Cheating is wrong, but most men are programmed to do so. According to my stance, creating children is wrong, and it doesn't mean we should. We have the INTELLIGENCE to suppress what's "nature", that is why we are humans.
@BFG8000

Throughout our childhood we were conditioned to live a certain way. In adolescence we created our own way of living. And NOW we are aware that it was all for nothing, we were tricked to belief that what we did meant something. Now we continue to do it because of habit, being lost and trying to avoid pain. Our mind and body is used to living like this and it prevents us of ending it. This vicious cycle continues on and on and on with every newborn.
@frankyang

Life's purpose is not happiness. A sentient life's worth is measured by its ability to FEEL (pain and pleasure)...that is not the same as "purpose';

any intelligent person comes to this conclusion. nice frank yang. People have kid's for themselves, they are used as a means to an end for the parents happiness. And when life is built out of hunger and deprivation states and the rebound from these states it's only logical to conclude forcing something into that entropy and degradation is selfish for your fish/bird brain happiness. which, having kids doesn't even make people happy anyway statistically.

That's a good question. I guess it's up the to the parent to decide this. I can only strongly suggesting to have an abortion. But if you follow my logic, and that non- existence is better than existence, then it is more justifiable to kill a person than to let it live...providing the fact that the killing is painless.

you could say it would be a one sided relationship as your body is continuously giving and you are simply just taking. if you were to work to give back to your body, your body would respond. if you give as much as you receive from your body you would be content. if you gave less then what your body required from working for you, you would suffer.

Also, one of the reasons why we want to control our children may be, because children fulfill the ancient dream of immortality and we feel by extension our children, are us, and we often times than not attempt to live through our children.

Although I don't agree with not having children, you have some very good points. I always find it crazy that people say parenting is one of the hardest things in the world yet anyone can do it even at a young age. You have to be educated to be a doctor or to do some type of engineering etc but any fool can have kids. I always say there's a difference between mothering and parenting a child. Two very different things. Most people are mothered but a very few out of them are actually parented.

There could be a necessity with nature evolving to consciousness. Conscious beings have trillion times more potential than non conscious beings... There must be a reason for survival and for our awareness, if it doesn't come now then many things will only be known in the future. This is not the limit. Realizing your own illusions does not mean the end of your journey. Above self-actualization is the "sacred". Your ability to connect with a bigger entity. Same thing as individual atoms all working in unison to achieve the state of a molecule, cells, and ultimately a seperate being wiht own direction and purpose.

here's what i think about the parents allowing their children to die: parents shouldn't allow it IF it's some short term bullshit i.e. child broke up with boy/girlfriend, depressed and wants to kill him/herself. people aren't able to make rational decisions when under the influence of negative emotions (even positive, in some situations). i think it's only acceptable if the child has been feeling like he/she doesn't belong for a long time and there's nothing the parents can do to make him/her

Obviously there are wrong reasons to have kids, but that isn't any of your business because you aren't going to indulge into any of those wrong reasons thus it is irrelevant. The worst part of this video is that I've taken notice to your pessimism. Bottom line you don't want to have kids because you fear of bad things that are going to happen to them in their lives.
