I was a Zappafan for long long years. Zappa was a great musician. The lyrics - even the german onse - are music, Zappas surrealism art his humor, his political understanding - for my way of undersatnding - was always kind of anarcistically freedom. To shock people was part of his pleasure.

Frank Zappa war einer der ersten ( Elvis mal ausgeklammert) die auch mal auf deutsch ein Liedchen trällerten im "VATERLAND" wie Er so schön sagte und das war einfach phantastisch. A great tune, and I love the Wagnerian touches! Thia is propbably Frank's most 'spiritual' libretto, and also, the tune is completely diatonic, with none of the chromaticism that his music usually contains. Yes, a remarkable piece, and thanks, Frank!

@RedGarnett-n2p Жыл бұрын
And yes he was a genius musician but not a genius at writing lyrics as far as I'm concerned
@CocoWantsACracker9 ай бұрын
@@RedGarnett-n2p Really? I think he has lots of layers, hidden meanings, subtle and obscure references and combines all of that with a dose of humor - that often masks the layers, meanings and references even more. I can imagine the lyrics not being to someone's liking, but I find it harder to understand how someone can think the lyrics are less impressive than his music. Just to make this perfectly clear: I am genuinely finding it harder to understand, not saying your opinion is 'wrong' or disrespecting it. If you have the time and inclination to elaborate, I would love to get a bit more insight into your reasons for feeling the way you do and whose lyrics you consider genius or at least of a higher level. Perhaps you will help me discover more great artists this way or re-evaluate some I have failed to recognize as genius lyricists so far.
