Thanks, br1tag, for another interesting compilation creating an extended Zappa solo showcasing his performance evolution over time. To those who've stated that Mr. Zappa is overrated: Zappa plays with nearly peerless precision and his joints are for the most part quite intelligently well-composed. "Sloppy" enters into his playing only rarely and "stupid" is the antithesis of his total and might I add amazingly prolific output across a myriad of genres. "Overrated" - really? He's got to be one of our most underrated musical artists in the same vein as, say, Frank Black. In short, Mr. Zappa is an epoch-making musician-composer to say the least and his total work is quite the opposite of sloppy and/or stupid.

Seriously, man, nice job with this compilation. For over an hour I get to sit back and fucking blow my mind, uninterrupted, with Frank's guitar shoved in my brain. Always thought the Bandit solos were in a class by themselves, not unlike the Inca Roads or Torture solos. Not enough guitarists these days have the balls to solo for that long and still hold an audience. Nice slide show too.

Mr. Zappa was accomplished at composing, arranging, and (perhaps most important) gathering the best talent available to perform said music. Never mainstream, always cutting edge. This, "Bandit," collection just scratches the surface and is exemplary.

As was the way with rock journalism purportedly be written by so called experts (sic)it was always fashionable to dislike frank as he didn't give a shit about rolling stone and other neolithical publications,he told it like he saw it and he was no robot,but it always astounded me that Eric Clapton was either 1 or 2 on all time greatest guitar lists always above frank,anyway us zappa fans know FZ was the best!!!

Oh, I definitely like his 70's solos best. You can listen to pretty much any show you like and get lost in his playing. But if we're talking about his studio albums, I think the pinnacle of his guitar playing was definitely Joe's Garage. It's one of his most commercial albums, of course. At least on the surface. But his solos on that are goddamn mind-blowing! And I've never heard anyone approach the art of guitar in quite the same way as Joe dreams about his notes that will irritate.

A great service you are providing - thank you br1tag! A question for you - what is the audio quality of your sources files, and of KZbin playback? (I'm told that choosing HD will also increase audio bandwidth, but I don't know how this compares to MP3 sampling ...). Something better than basic MP3 *does* sound better, so related: is there any chance of providing a higher res audio download? It's hard to tease apart playback limitations from the live recording fidelity, but I need my Frank sounding as good as possible!
@br1tag8 жыл бұрын
My audio sources are WAV or FLAC (lossless). My uploads are in those formats. KZbin converts to MP3 (lossy). If you download from an MP3 source, you can not get better than that MP3 quality. You can find a lot of great FZ music in lossless format on Zappateers.
