Hey Frank! I am from Brazil and I have been in Khayelitsha once, last March. I was studying English in Cape Town and then I decided to do some thing to help poor children. We went to a "school" (IPC) and spent the day with that amazing children. While I was watching this video, I was trying to find one of them there... =) Good job!

@FuroraCeltica Not in Khayelitsha. We got lost one day and found people were only to willing to help us get back to where we were headed. We did have one day where there was a van in the road, it's contents spilled, and no-one around. We turned around at that. In my home town would I have done that? Maybe not. but always better safe than sorry, just be vigilant, keep your windows up at stop lights, all the usual.

@FuroraCeltica You could always hire a guide. Mpho was excellent in Khayelitsha.

Typical township tour of South Africa whereby peoples lives are fixed. Townships have developed and people no-longer live they used in the days. I'm just wondering how would one feel if people just intrude into you space take pictures without permission etc. Geez they even getting children to say things, say Mlungu, Khayelitsha... Im utterly disturbed by this.

Thanks for you feedback Alex, as you can hear in the vids Mpho was describing how instead of waiting for the government to do things for them they were doing it for themselves. I found it very inspiring. I didn't think it was a fixed view so sorry if it came over like that. I just filmed what was there. Also no one was filmed without permission or without their knowledge. Everyone either interacted with me or Mpho first.

Absolutely, it was Thope Lekau's daughter Mpho who took us round from the Kopanong B&B, you can Google it if this link doesn't show up: www.kopanong-township.co.za/ Mpho can also take you out to the local jazz club, however my first born was on the way so we took it easy. Lovely people, say hello from me!

I've heard townships are pretty dangerous, did you have any problems?
