I think its really cool that you wanted to get out of your comfort zone! so many people travel to cape town and do not see anything outside of Table Mountain and City Center. Much of that is because of the way the city if geographically set up, but its great that you made the effort to see how many people in Cape Town live! I loved Khaylitsha.

Yeah, there's definitely two sides to Africa, the part with people and culture, and the wide open spaces where there's no one for miles. I can recommend Kopanong, mpho is a cool guide, food is simple but good, check out the jazz clubs, take some ear plugs for the road. There's loads in SA from the amazing countryside to the wine, vineyards, the wildlife, the sea, the history. Edgy in places. But if you go in whale season tell him to check out the garden route, a southern right whale breach...

Being South African this doesn't show much but I guess it's a start... Khayelitsha is a beautiful place. We just choose to accept it from a danger's view. If you think it a crime hot spot you are right but it's also peoples homes and the most welcoming and friendliest.

What's the average temperature there and how hot/cold does it get?

...will knock your socks off. Food is great in Capetown. Awesome in fact. Check out buitenverwachtung vineyard (excuse spelling) food and wine for two that is about £80 that would go for five times that in London or NY. Massimos Pizza Club in Hout bay has the best pizza outside italy, ask for a bottle of bicerin too - it's amazing, tell him I sent you. Be prepared to grow an extra stomach for the fish portions on the garden route. I'd like to go back today please. :)

Are you from US? How much did it cost to travel?
@FrankColesMadeEasy4 жыл бұрын
@@melaninqueen6012 It’s a while since I visited. I flew from London for this trip and I think the flights were around $700. Hire car was around $120 per week and then I either house sat or B&B’d it. The Garden Route during whale season is something I’d like to go back for. Even pre-season I sat and watched about five southern rights breaching for several hours. Massimo’s was just given top 50 pizzeria status in the world. If you visit tell Massimo Frank says to get his amazing liquors out.
