I taped this skit off TV on my cassette recorder back in 1982 and my best friend and I "stole" this routine! We did it at parties, barbecues and such, always to much laughter and applause! We did this one verbatim and wrote a few other of our own "An Human Echo" skits. Thanks Al and Tom!

Just this past week on Al Franken’s podcast he has a really great conversation with Letterman. Definitely worth looking it up.

At 7:20 Dave asks, "Do you get involved a lot of political things?" Al replies that there is some danger in doing things for political groups because their later actions might cause you embarrassment, going on to say that, "We kind of regret doing that thing last Fall for the Christian Phalangists." This prompted uneasy audience laughter and caused Dave to wince. Two weeks before this Letterman appearance by Franken & Davis, the president-elect of Lebanon and Christian Phalangist Bachir Gemayel was assassinated. Two days later the Israeli-backed Phalangist militia exacted revenge for the assassination, killing up to 3,500 Palestinian and Lebanese Muslim civilians over 36 hours in what came to be known as the Sabra & Chatila massacre. It's safe to say that Al's joke qualified as 'edgy'.

Nixer Doyle. That massacre is rightly blamed on Ariel Sharon. There is a good reason why Ariel Sharon is often called the Butcher.

They probably called Don Giller a geek and a nerd for his obsession with taping Letterman on his VHS player. They laughed at him. Who's laughing now? I am. Because of Letterman, Franken and Davis for sure but also because of Don Giller, a true American hero.

Two of the best writers SNL ever had two of the greatest members of a comedy team that ever existed they had a rapport and an ability to make tears come to your eyes as this routine just did to me I can't imagine a world without having seen them I remember one skit they did where Al franken confessed to being a gay lover with Tom Davis totally outrageous then there was the time that Al franken was going to sue the serial company because of his lightness being stolen on Frank and very cereal it's just too many things I'm so glad that I saw this hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha 💥📢📢🤡🌈🚨👺

Bob and Rae should get royalties. Anybody know the reference about the "Christian (sic) folanges"?
