Hannibal is so interesting though, because I /do/ think he wants to maintain his friendships here, he just wants to manipulate every situation he possibly can more. 😂

Your reactions to this show are the best there are on KZbin, it is so good to finally see someone pay proper attention to everything they say, and that you can see. Cause this is just not a show that allows you to take a pause, you have to look and listen or you'll miss something. And watching you look and listening is so great, because I think *finally* someone dives deeper than just the surface of this show. It has so much detail you can miss.

The showrunner Bryan Fuller has confirmed Hannibal's original plan for the family dinner was to invite Will over to round out the family with him and Abigail, but Will was busy with this episode's case and had to cancel on dinner so he called Alana instead.

About the Angel Maker, it's just a product of his brain tumor. It's been documented that hallucinations can sometimes bring subconscious knowledge or thinking out into the conscious mind visually. Basically, his brain noticed something in the micro-expressions or body language or behavior of those people that then manifested into a hallucination of them being 'bad' being surrounded by flames. It's been depicted in media a few times, an example being in Criminal Minds where a guy with synesthesia where he could see the words he heard in the air and if they were lying, the words were red. It isn't a supernatural ability really, just his brain being wired differently by his tumor. Will is also wired differently, hence his extreme empathy where he can make logical leaps that others can. Given the artistic nature of the show, it makes sense to feel a certain supernatural element to it, but all of it is capable of being explained by science or the nature of fiction stretching the bounds of reality

13:41 I think Jack relies on Hannibal to be honest about Wills headspace and we haven’t seen him do that. Hannibal gave Will a clean bill of health to return to the field. Now Hannibal wants to point out how Jack isn’t looking out for Wills mental health like he isn’t the one that lied in the first place.
@MariaVitoria-me4tqАй бұрын
The patreons already must have told you but then hannibal is waiting for dinner with Abigail for Will ( he has to go out town for the case and didn't make in time), and Alana just show up unannounced and takes his seat. The original scene in the scripts: ALANA BLOOM (re: third place setting): You were expecting me? HANNIBAL: In the interest of honesty, we were expecting Will Graham. But my phone calls went unreturned. I wish they had kept it that way, on screen its implicated by the dialogue in the office, and when she appear Hannibal look a little annoyed theres also a awkward pause when she ask if they where waiting her. But it's just a little details that can fly over our heads. Also i just commenting too much while watching, but... if i just do it at the end of the video i forget everything 😮💨

Not a very important note, but some subtitles have the brand of Bella's perfume as Dior. It's actually JAR. This is an extremely exclusive, high-end brand that you can only get at the brick-and-mortar in Paris, with very unique profiles. Hannibal has either been to this shop himself, or has interacted with enough people who have the means and knowledge to shop there. Not surprising, but another nod to his exquisite, refined palate.

around 55:00 .. i don't think Hannibal cares for Abigail exactly.. I think he only cares for her b/c Will does.. and b/c she is the catalyst of Will's feelings of guilt, and Hannibals hand in calling her Father to warn him, it gives Hannibal the excuse to use Abby as an excuse to further connect with Will through a faux care for Abby. His constant use of "we should raise her".. "we should steer her".. etc gives that away, imo. Esp when Hannibal truly doesn't need Will to help him with Abby if he cared for just her, but in this way, she's the excuse to manipulate Will to stay within his grasp. Not to mention, this exact episode of Family is playing almost an exact parallel to whats happening between the mother (or Hannibal) wanting to mold and create a new "Family" with the boys she abducts (like Abigail).. and as you saw, the mother was perfectly ready to shoot her new "son" at the moment where she thought she was caught.. and i don't think that imagery was done by accident. I think it proves that Hannibal would just as easily get rid of Abigail if she wasn't worth the connection between Hannibal and Will..

so for Clarice, Bryan fuller (showrunner)couldn't used the character in the show, because I think other production company had the rights for that specific character and they kinda made this character as a substitute, but at some point they wanted to introduce her. i think its pretty stupid lol because when they made the Clarice show, they couldn't used hannibal either and the showrunners of that show, basically copied so many things from this show.

Made my day, watching these back to back episode reactions, and I'm once again grateful that someone as perceptive, appreciative and intelligent as yourself is reacting to this exquisitely layered show! While all three of these cases are gruesomely intriguing, I love how each one presents an opportunity for Hannibal to build a deeper connection with Will (and to a lesser extent, Jack), but also offers us an insight into how their minds work, as you cleverly pointed out. I felt the sincerity in your "I need a break" after watching these intense shows, btw 🤣 - but imagine being in Will's shoes!! lmao As a die hard fan of Mr Mikkelsen's micro expressions, I whoop every time those lips twitch into an almost-smile or grimace of disapproval, and he sure is a charming mf when he wants to be! He has no right to make me laugh with those private jokes at the dinner table, but he does, every time! Great reactions, as always, Frank - it brings me so much joy to see you give great shows their due on this channel! Bravo!

Though it did make my laugh to have you go "could *Hannibal* be the Ripper?!" halfway though the episode!😂 Love that you got so caught up in everything else, in the bad guy of the week that you forgot about the king of bad guys! Insane of this show to drop both Suzy Eddie Izzard AND Raúl Eshparza's character introductions in the same episode. And re: the "how did they do this crime with no one seeing?" of it all, the answer is "don't worry about it!!!" 😂 There are some murder tableaux that are so ridiculously unbelievable, you have to give into the suspension of disbelief and just have fun with it. The show is in it's own heightened, almost camp, dramatic universe. Give into it!!!😅

18:17 How I see it, it is our universe, without magic or supernatural or spiritual things or smth like this. Yet the show itself, the characters and the concepts they explore sometimes have so much depth and symbolism that it nearly overlaps what we see as “real” and has some hint of mystery. But, as I already mentioned, it’s more about symbolism and concepts, plus a bit extended abilities of human mind, cause both the way will’s and hannibal’s mind works seem to be a little bit exaggerated erosion of how a mind can really work, yet it can still be explained be science and psychology P.s. Btw it’s only a start, there’re gonna be even more sometimes very interesting symbolism throughout the show further. Adding smth after finishing the video: not going to spoil anything, but the plot line with Miriam is very interesting to me, not only because we can see another very smart person, similar to Will in many things, but because Hannibal’s attitude towards Miriam really differs from his usual attitude to his victims Now I’m really looking forward to watching your further reactions

Hannibal wants a friend, and Hannibal also wants to play with people and their minds. So now he has to choose between his affection for Will, and his enjoyment of manipulation. And that's clearly a very difficult choice for him. Jack is kind of the same. Like, he cares for Will, they're not close friends, but he does care at least somewhat. But he also cares about solving the case, and if he has to pick between Will's sanity/well-being or catching a murderer he picks the case over Will. Or at least, he picks this case. It remains to be seen what he will do in the future. I think Jack sees Will as a tool to solve cases with, and he might use Will up until he breaks, or he might take good care of his tool so he can keep using it. And if he has to use manipulation to keep Will he will do so. Hannibal uses an ethical butcher. He considers himself an ethical person, so... Usually the case of the week is mostly there to show us something about the characters and to draw connections between the case and the characters and their state of mind etc. This show does parallels a lot, as well as call backs to lines from earlier episodes/seasons, repeated in a new context. Remember, Hannibal isn't Will's therapist, they're just having conversations after all... So pesky things like rules and ethics and OSHA don't apply. Bella's decision to keep Jack in the dark is a she says to keep things from changing, but I think it's also a way to save him pain, and a way to make him prove to her that he knows her. As in, if you knew me well enough, you'd know that something is up. And Jack does, he just doesn't know what exactly. Yeah, Oeuf wasn't aired, I think it's the least interesting episode of the show if I'm honest. It's not bad, but compared to some other episodes it's more overt, not very subtle, in its themes and metaphors. Hannibal just riffling through Will's things and playing with his lures and piano is just so rude. 😆 I can't remember if it's mentioned in the episode, but initially Hannibal wanted to have breakfast with Will and Abigail, not Alana. There is a mention in the script of Will having to turn down the invitation because he was arresting the killer. Theoretically Miriam Lass could be Clarice. This show doesn't really care about timelines of the books, they put things in different orders, in different contexts, etc. This isn't Clarice because the rights for Clarice (and Buffalo Bill) are separate from the rights to Hannibal and the Red Dragon characters. Hannibal reading some random dude is credited as the Chesapeake ripper, and he is SO ANGRY. 😂 Alana: did you inadvertently plant a suggestion in Abel Gideon's mind? Chilton: I would NEVER use psychic driving as a method! Alana: I did say inadvertently, but thanks for confirming I guess. Hannibal sneaking on his socks to Miriam is so menacing, Mads Mikkelsen plays threatening very well.
