I love season 2. Season 1 Will is scared and confused. He doesn’t know who he is and has all these killers swimming around in his brain. Season 2 we finally get to see confident and capable Will. He knows who he is, and who Hannibal is. And he has the knowledge and skills of a bunch of serial killers to get shit done 😂

"I believe you..." One of my favorite understated parts of this season. It was playing in my head a lot while I was watching the later season 1 reactions. I love Bedelia, she has such poise.

I remember years ago, on my first watch of this show, I reacted exactly like you. I was so confused by that first fight scene that I went to check if I was in the wrong episode hahahaha Nice reaction man, excited for the rest.

In regards to Hannibal playing - he knows that will knows, but he’d NEVER risk talking about it openly in a mental hospital. He doesn’t know whose listening, will could be setting him up, etc etc.

I'm sue he's already fully aware Chilton is spying on everything in his petty fiefdom, too.

Exactly! From an aesthetic point of view, and from the dialog side, these are great shots. It looks great in one go. Some of the dialogues/picture settings/plot twists/micro-gestures are so charming that they may well help you understand voyeurs... I like the ending, where Hannibal is sitting alone, looking at an empty chair where Will usually sat at the same time...

12:00 in my opinion, that smirk wasn't like "I got you", it was more of a satisfied smirk as the one he's so intrigued by has finally proved himself intelligent enough to discover hannibal, to see him by who he truly is

I’m one of the late comers to Hannibal too, only coming across the show a couple of months back. So I’m loving watching ur reactions since I had no one to talk about the show with! I’ve got to agree about how so little is wasted in this show, it’s amazing how every bit of dialogue means something. I think it’s the only tv show I’ve ever watched again straight after watching it, I’d missed so much!

Hannibal is out here making the saddest cannibal faces like he wasn't the one who killed, imprisoned, and terrified all his friends away. You can't make me feel bad for you cannibal man, you did this to yourself.

In episode one, of course Hannibal can't come out and say anything, he knows Chilton is always listening in his hospital. The two of them know what's happening now, though. That's why Hannibal is smirking, bc now the veil has lifted and Will can SEE him now. They are now closer to being equals and Hannibal is so happy about that. Despite having to double speak about it, now Will knows he IS double speaking. And in episode 2, Will is now also using manipulation to get what he wants.

I love season 2 because, as opposed to season 1 where we get ‘sad, wet dog’ Will, we get ‘bad bitch’ Will instead. Don’t get me wrong I love both, but I’m weak for s2. Like Hannibal’s so understandable in this one and only regard: “ooh I like him- make him worse!”

Unfortunately, especially in the US justice system, they REALLY don't care if you are willing to face the worst sentencing to prove your innocence. Usually they increase the charges to try to force you to plead guilty, innocent or not, because it saves them time and effort. And that is not just on cases like these. It is on small stuff, where they know you have kids at home and you can't afford bail, so pleading guilty is the only way you can get home to them (especially if you are an only parent), if the choices are to fight it and end up staying in jail until a trial and more charges, or pleading down and getting house arrest or years of probation. Even people on de*th row will have a bunch of evidence come up that proves they are most likely innocent, or are innocent, but they will still get the needle. It can either be because the person who makes the choice doesn't care, since they need to be the ones to review the new evidence (especially if you are out of appeals), or some states say you need to prove who it actually was, not just that it wasn't you, before you are set free. They truly do not care. Especially when optics come into play, and if it will help people win elections. It is very depressing.

The thing Frederick Chilton said about Will during the trial scene it’s very true although he said it in the wrong context (of Will murdering those four ladies) Will does in fact hide who he truly is, he hides it with isolation (he self isolated as seen at the beginning of the show) he has this facade of vulnerability that he uses to deceive people (since you are on episode 7 you have already seen some of it) so what Chilton said is pretty accurate, he might be vain and I overly confident but he is not a total idiot. Also Hannibal most likely knew that Will was trying to manipulate him when he was fake crying and asking for his help (as Bedelia pointed out that Will’s request to see Hannibal betray his intention to manipulate him and vice versa) so he definately knows, he just lets it happen bc 1) he actually doesn’t want Will to be in prison, he started framing him bc he knew Will would eventually find out his true identity not out any personal vendetta that he has against him, it was nothing personal just self preservation, but he genuinely enjoys Will’s company and 2) Hannibal really loves that Will is willingly being manipulative and he will play along. Thank you for your reactions!! I really love them, this is my favorite show of all times!!

Thank you for your reactions, they’re amazing and I’m always soooo looking forward to seeing them. Btw, I don’t know whether someone have already mentioned it to you or not (wouldn’t be surprised if they did), but that black horned creature that Will sees Hannibal as is probably meant and was heavily inspired by Wendigo, a creature of native american’s mythology it’s a mythological representation of winter and cannibalism, I’m with turned people who started eating other people, in stories about it it often looks like something tall sometimes with horns and ability to mimic humans’ voice and lure people (kinda fits Hanni’s profile, doesn’t it?). I’m not claiming anything, but yes, here was a small fan fact
@ifyouwant47694 күн бұрын
(who has their own headcanons outside of the interview and canon, you don't have to answer, I'm not interested in arguing) Well.. Hannibal essentially has no "facade" when he again directs Will's thoughts to the fact that Will is the k*ller here, it's all an act of therapy Then Will understands that he is alone, they don't believe him, he must get out on his own or punish Hannibal, from which Hannibal sincerely believes in Will's inability to choose a position that either he is the k*ller or Hannibal, as in the first season Hannibal wants to take care of and return the friendship that they lost from Hannibal's decision to put Will in jail because of evidence against Hannibal, it was an unnecessary turn in therapy and the ruin of friendship, which Hannibal is fully aware of and wants to continue working with it.... Both Hugh and Mads and Fuller, but especially Hugh said that Will does not lie, he does not play, there is a common game that the actors said like "and he knows that I know that he knows that I know" but the sincerity of their dialogues is real, Hannibal just doesn't know that Will is on the path of revenge, but finally accepts the darkness inside himself and plays with fire (Hannibal and talk about darkness and violence, proximity to a dangerous place and re-honesty with Hannibal - all this is fire, and the theme of the beginning of season 2 is how much Will jumps into this fire and in the end does he want to control the darkness AT ALL. Will's bottom allowed him to not be afraid anymore), from here the same honest but darker conversations begin, Will enters into a position of opposition to Hannibal and this is righteous, and Will's righteousness begins to either be tested or crumble, and Hannibal himself does not change, he knows who he is, Will does not know who he is, and this is a continuation of the search for himself Mads and Hugh did a phenomenal job on the script, when they did not know what would happen next and built everything around their personal understanding of the relationship between Will and Hannibal Well, and the fact that Hannibal does not leave there at all.. Easter eggs.. No, he became interested in what kind of k*ller is behind this creativity - he came. Will and Beverly took up the case - Hannibal is still near the FBI and he is interested in working with them and looking from this position. Will sees crimes over and over again - Hannibal, as he admired his empathy, his mind, all of Will, will continue to watch him and how Will works and sees the k*ller's mind and his own mind, it's all about their endless connection and understanding of each other, no betrayal will erase this sensitive and strong connection and deep understanding of each other, then why is Will, like Hannibal, fascinated by him.. I don't understand all this anger at Hannibal, who is NOT a person, he does not think in "games and hints", he is friends and communicates, he helps or gives wrong instructions, he moves through life with joy and pleasure every second, and he wants to spend this every second on Will, whom he loves so much, and all these pieces where Will sees Hannibal everywhere ... It's mutual, they are in each other's worlds and intertwine, crawl apart and blur .. Will's psyche is the most difficult thing that Fuller could write and play this psyche with the hands and mind of Hugh, where there will never be parting again these two forever, and any difficulties and Will's path through the darkness is the same path of friendship and love, where Mads said "something must happen" explaining the value of Hannibal's actions, who must do something for progress around, and at the same time enjoy the chance he has about one single friend who is devoted to them, but he works on their friendship and is ready to repeat endlessly how he values, cherishes or waits for Will and communication with him, and this is completely mutual .. In fact, betrayal was the first to launch those processes in Will's psyche, without which Will would not have encountered the acceptance of darkness and control over fear, Will finally opened his face to HIMSELF Well, Hannibal does NOT play God, he challenges him and really believes in God, Hannibal himself, according to the canon, is both the devil and a man, and his fascination with sins and darkness in people in order to pull everything out, that's who he is .. And the most ironic thing is that all this honesty and value of relationships will always be involved in the game, but this "game" is extremely inflated when it is equated comparing to other series like Sherlock 10 years ago, here it is like a game it is part of honesty sincerity and our personal fun and our progress in relationships where we go, that is Hannibal betrays Will, while Will cheats that is betrays Hannibal plotting revenge and punishment, while Hannibal tries to pull him out and help him, so with such affection and similarity here it can hardly be called a war.. Amazing chemistry of the actors and their meaningful friendship and the element when you seem to be betrayed, but you do not break this deep connection

Below in the comments I read about how "Hannibal knows" - nope, the gist of the first half of season 2 according to Hugh or Mads, I don't remember exactly "does he know that I know that he knows that I know..." and so on endlessly
