I thought that the BBC had put some kind of a ban on this one, presumably either I am mistaken or the ban came later. I remember my sister telling me about it at the time!

After this performance, it went up in the charts, and Mike Read refused to play it because he thought the lyrics were filthy (he later claimed it was because the show had overrun and he just said that as a joke, but he took 20 years to think that one up, so I'm not convinced). The record company's PR company jumped on this, and made an even bigger thing out of it, so it went to number 1 for five weeks. And yes, that was when the BBC refused to play it. They did relent at the end of the year and the band appeared on the Christmas edition of Top of the Pops.

Some of the best music of all time. So interesting to see them reunite in 2003 on VH1 bands reunited. Holly didn't want to perform with them again, but the other guys did the 'one off' gig at Wembley in 2005 with Ryan Molloy as lead singer. Hot and sexy. They still had it. Sad they did nothing more together after that.

three songs in the charts in 1984 relax from 1983 and stayed in the charts all through 1984, two tribes number one and relax was number two and then the power of love.. funny thing is that relax was going down in the charts until mike read said it was obscene and bbc banned it.. then the rest as you say is history.. holly still gong and touring was at 80s festival last year :-)
