Class. You've got it or you haven't. Frankie had it in abundance.

Saw him doing a live show at the Club Fiesta in Stockton in the 1970's when he was involved with National Boys Clubs. Boy, could he work an audience. What a showman. Met him backstage after the show. What a lovely man.

Too True Wotanm but even more than that he was a thoroughly nice man as well, I was an apprentice Tailor in a small Jewish tailors shop in Harehills and he used to come in with a famous bodybuilder, Reg Parks and another friend called Dennis Wineberg, and he would chat to us as if he had known us for years.

My late mother told me a story many years ago ! Frankie was offered a huge glitzy contract to star in a movie I believe it was ‘Some like it hot’ co starring The late Marilyn Monroe and a once in a lifetime to break into Hollywood and a movie career, his wife did not want to uproot and leave England he declined the opportunity putting his wife first !! Devotion and loyalty you don’t see much of that these days !
