@iailwcj3 жыл бұрын
As an INFP, doing anything at all is so hard, even if it's something I like. If it's something I like the issue is there's always multiple other things I like that I want to do and I can't decide which one I'll like doing the most so I end up doing nothing. If it's something I don't like the issue is I'll never feel like doing it so I don't until I absolutely HAVE to. If it's a bigger goal I'm working toward like a career I get so stressed out because I start to think that what if once I get there I find out that I actually don't like what I'm doing and I just wasted all this time and money on school? It's so hard to actually commit to something because I want to know for sure that I'll like it and that it'll make me happy because if I'm not happy then I just don't see the point. But I know I just have to take that risk because I'll never know for sure until I get there and if I never go anywhere I'll never be happy

As a fellow INFP I felt this to the core. However, I have recently become slightly more enlightened :) I have lost count of how many times I have been accused of starting things that I don't finish and to be honest I don't regret that anymore. I have found a lot of things I don't like and continuing to do them felt like a waste of my time considering that at the end I wouldn't have revisited them anyway. I would advise you to try and let go of that need to "know for sure this is for me" and go with "let me try this and see if it's for me". If it's not, don't fret about it. Just drop it and move to the next thing you want to try. If you find that you enjoy something, continue doing it but at the same time keep searching for other things you might also enjoy, applying the same tactic. There is nothing wrong with trying new things and finding that they are not for you. As a matter of fact, I think for people like INFPs it should be encouraged, given our span of interests and thirst for knowledge. You'll regret not trying later on when you start thinking "if I had started this last year, I would have come so far". For me the problem was always that I wanted to do too many things at the same time but I've learned to deal with that by making lists. For example, writing down what I want to do today, just to declutter my head and have a clearer picture of what I'm aiming for. The satisfaction of cutting each item off the list is enough to get me to go through all of them and by having a list you get to have that sense of satisfaction for each one. This can be applied for career goals / choices, travel destinations, hobbies and so on. Also, try to consider that everything you do teaches you something. Even if it was a good outcome, a bad outcome, a good choice or a bad choice, you learn something from everything you do. 'Cause you said that maybe you work really hard and invest a lot of money and time into getting a job that you might not like. That's fine too. You never know how the things you learned for that job can be applied in other areas as well. I'm not saying everything is peachy, perfect and easy but thinking in such a negative manner is really not helping you so why think like that at all? Just take the lesson and move forward to the next adventure. Also, when something goes wrong (even if it's your thoughts going wild) the first and most important thing you need to do take a DEEP BREATE! P.S. 4 months late but I still hope it helps in any manner.

As an IJ type I can only agree with that. I've tried so hard to get better though. Started DMing for a D&D group, hoping it would help with improvisation. It took me 2 years to finally put my plans into action. And then I realised I've passively planned easily 2 years of a campaign with weekly sessions and now I don't know how to reduce it. It's getting better though, but it's a very sublte improvement. I like to say "I'm flexible, but only if it works around my plans and with at least 24 hours notice, preferably a week."

The redness of the icon represents the way my face would have reddenned, should I ever look in Frank's eyes in person. Those eyes. Those beautiful, honest eyes, the very eyes that watch me from the paused video frame, as if telling "You haven't sat through anything, have you? It's okay, thanks for that anyway". The burning inside is overwhelming. I reverse the video 5 seconds, copy the URL right before the ad should start, open an incognito tab where the Adblock is disabled, paste the URL and press Enter. I must do it. I must earn his thanks, I must SIT THROUGH THAT. Spoiler: YT didn't show the ad anyway, so I thought at least I can write this thing. Maybe someone will have a giggle.

As someone who's more of the INTJ variety, I find what I struggle with the most is just forming a network of people. Moving from my head to the real world can obviously take me forcing myself to do things, but much more so, it's harder for me to communicate with people what I actually mean. Especially without taking on a condescending or hurtful tone(because I feel like I'm being forced to translate the obvious) that inevitably gets misinterpreted as me being rude or hurtful for no reason. Apparently, people don't like that.

Well maybe a bit of perspective, from this friendly ENTP, might help you with that. If what you know or think seems obvious to you, is only obvious because it is on your head and you understand it. But in the same way, what is obvious for others will not be obvious to you. So the same way you might expect others to be clear and give the proper and important information to you, you should try and do the same to others. You never know what the other person knows, and it is illogical to expect people to know about everything just as quite probably you are not an expert on everything. So while you might know more about "x" they might know more about "y". And being more charitable on the expected competence on people, people might surprise you. Again not everyone has to be good at "x" you might find that person that sucks at it, but is great at "y" which is were you suck, and then you can complement each other.

@@farrex0 That's not really the issue. I don't expect everyone to know everything. It's the fact that I have to explain things at all that bothers me. Things should just make sense the first time around. Obviously they don't, but knowing that and expressing that at the spur of the moment are two very different things.

What bothers me is that my brain works a mile a minute sorting through potential future variables that might come up, how to deal with them, then moving on, so I go from initial concept to fully fleshed out plan in a matter of seconds. Then I explain the plan and people keep bringing up "but what if..." things that to me were obvious and I already sorted through them, so it is like going on a hike, getting to the end, and half the group has barely left the original trailhead. Super annoying.

As an INFP, I agree with FJ's statement and advice. If I may share my own experience as a reference to help my fellow IPs out there : My procrastination had taken a severe toll on my writing activities. A year ago I've joined a group of aspiring authors in my area. The commitment (and external pressure^^) of delivering at least 5 pages every two weeks has really helped me actually getting something done :)

INTP yes. That's my struggle. I'm an artist. I want to do my thing in the way I think it's right and I like. It's really difficult to put myself in the mind of other people and fvollow their directions for commissions. I do it but it's a sufference. I also overthink about every project and never really start doing it. So I always find myself too close to the deadline and I end up not realising all the ideas I had had.

A dream for me is having a food truck. I think it's great for an ISTP because when I hit my human interaction quota, I can just close the window and drive away. Having the truck: dream achieved. Actually making a living that way: find a new dream.

Yeah, establishing a customer base requires reliability. The great thing about being your own boss is that you can set up your operation the way that suits you. Perhaps you could find someone who is suited to interacting with customers to do that part of the work while you do the non-social tasks.

As always, I relate with this a lot as INFJ. I have really trouble with "overplanning" and making plans A, B, C, D.. in case of situations that can possibly happen, you know " predict the unpredictable" things 😂 🤣 And there is happening problem with acheving them.. I feel like Im totally not going forward and stucking too often in some places.. in the end Im trying to get through them and getting tired when I see that all things which have to be done, so I'm just losing motivation pretty fast 😔 On the other hand, not planning and predicting what can possibly happen making me full of anxiety and scared about future. So its really hard to find balance there.. 😓 I think, best way to be succesful in that case.. is to create a habit to make some kind of checkup list or diary. What I mean is, when we will see black on white, that we really moving forward, even if by small steps.. it gonna be the best "motivation kick" to go forward without feelings of hopelessness. I guess sometimes we are also forgetting, that a few years ago we planned sth, what we got today.. and how huge success it is that we did it.. and because of that we can't truly celebrate our successes(even if they are small) to keep building our confidence and self-esteem. True is, whenever I remembered to look back, I was realising that I basically did what I planned, and didnt fail as I though till that moment.. and in that exaclty moment it's making me happy and positive💕🥰😊 Its really important experience and Im forgetting so often to believe more in myself

Hi! I'm an ENFJ and I strongly agree with everything you've said about EJ types in this video. I've always just been doing what everyone around me has wanted me to do and even though I've succeeded at those things, they've never really made me feel content or given me a sense of achievement. And your advice of taking a step back and trying to understand myself... I've really been trying for the past two years. I'm in my final year of university and I really want to figure out who I am before I go out there but it is really difficult. I feel like building a sim that's exactly like me just to help myself understand what I stand for and who I really am. Thank you for this!

Possibility paralysis is a PITA -_- I had to LEARN to finish things and I'm still struggling with that lol However, I'm a big fan of the "Work smart, not hard": same results with minimum effort and it gives more time to try new things when they come up. I now end up overplanning sometimes and get very frustrated when things don't go according to plan cause nobody can plan in great details the next 10 years of their life X) I think I'm very ENTP-like at the very core, but sometimes act like an INTJ. I think the ExxJ types fail when they’re surrounded by people who are wrong about something important. Then they don’t seem to know they’re leading a bunch of people the wrong way, because they seem so dependent on the hive mind to determine what’s the correct path or goal. And yeah. I usually have a plan B, plan C, D, E.... going with the flow has been a difficult ability to learn but worth it. Kinda stressful but also exhilarating. (INTJ)

I definitely have tons of ideas that I never end up doing, which is unfortunate, but life is overwhelming as it is, so... Also, I would rather be "unsuccessful" than do something I'm not interested in. And I lose interest pretty quickly so you can imagine how "successful" I am. -intp Also, my istp husband is actually pretty good at getting stuff done that he wants to do.
