Lol. That could be me, an INTJ. It's true that compared to our ENTJ brethren, with all the same functions: INTJs are the runt of the litter. I'm convinced, that's because we have the unproductive Ni Fi loop, whereas ENTJs have the insanely productive Te Se loop. In other words, instead of daydreaming about feelings (or just daydreaming), they're working even when they're playing. Makes me think they're not real INtuitives, but are imposters. Secretly, ESTJs in disguise...
@aprilhelm518
@aprilhelm518 2 жыл бұрын
@@rocketassistedgoat1079 Well, ISTJ has the Si-Fi loop, which is, imo, also unproductive... I get a feeling of being stuck. Like introverted functions are functions you're supposed to go into temporarily and then come back out, but sometimes an introvert gets stuck. Don't know about extraverts, I guess. Si-Fi to me feels like an unfortunately unproductive loop.
@rocketassistedgoat1079
@rocketassistedgoat1079 2 жыл бұрын
@@aprilhelm518 Fi-Si is the same loop that INFPs have, only with the hero and child reversed. From experience with them though, their loop also includes iNtuition-the classic daydream state, so they can be as unproductive as me. I'm not sure how that fits into everything. I suspect extroverts in general are more productive, because they have an extroverted loop. Any loop can be unhealthy, but an extroverted loop, like Te Se: I think that's what being a workaholic is. But then (shrugs), what do I know. I just know as an INTJ, there is NO chance I'm one of the most productive types, lol. Weird thing is, when I was young: I used to spend 12hrs a day, pretty much every day on my hobbies during the school holidays. But then I burnt myself out (something I'm terrified of these days): and didn't touch any of them for 15yrs. So now, I pace myself, even with the things I enjoy. But then, I am sleep first (conserving energy). Sleep, blast, consume play-in that order.

Your INFJ advice is spot-on. I’m an INFJ and when I was younger sometimes I would spend so much time thinking about or planning doing something that it somehow “felt” like I actually did it. Many years ago I had this glaringly obvious moment of clarity that, for something to get done I actually have to DO THE THING. Sounds silly but now I just remind myself I have to DO THE THING and that mostly works, I’m actually fairly productive!

So I talk to real people in my mind. I remember a couple of times when I woke up early and was lying with my eyes closed for 2 or 3 hours. After a while, it felt like a real thing, though I knew it wasn't real. That way, I created fake but enjoyable memories without feeling cringing. Lol.

Oh, I’m not down, and as an ENFP who starts a lot of projects and almost never finishes any (with some procrastination in the middle) I fully expect us to be last, but it’s nice to not sugarcoat the reality for some of us because a lot of ENFPs sometimes don’t realize what they need to change in their life in order to better themselves. For me, I think it helps get myself organized, both around my workplace area and with the help of some agenda where I can list things I need to do and prioritize them. Our inspiration can be very unpredictable but I think it’s important to set our goals and focus on what we want or need to achieve.

For once, I agree with 100% of Frank's INFP assessment. We gotta suck it up and get stuff done, even if we don't feel like it. Having some kind of reward system for ourselves can be helpful. Sometimes even the satisfaction of crossing tasks off lists, or reflecting on our day and finding we have been productive, can be motivating. Think ahead a little and consider how you'll feel at the end of the day, week, or month. And yeah, sometimes you have to put in some tedious work, or what may feel like 'meaningless' work, to pave your way toward the life you really want. This also includes taking care of yourself physically so you can feel and function your best. Building good habits is always helpful. Tedious things can feel easier and come more naturally once they become habitual. Once you do get your career and your life aligned with who you really are, it does all tend to get easier.

(long message ahead) an infp here, and I have a ton of tasks to accomplish, but I have no motivation to do them. I write fan fiction and haven't updated in almost two months. On December 15, I promised to upload many chapters, but I haven't completed a single one. I have schedules in my head but it’s too complex and whenever it's time for me to do something, I always tell myself, "I swear I'll do it tomorrow," but I never do it until the last minute. I always believe I am capable of completing any task and claim "I believe that would work, I promise I’ll do it tomorrow the whole day," but I never do. I feel less productive and feel like I’m not doing anything good in my life. Now I feel bad that a lot of people are disappointed at me. I feel like I’ve upset them :,((. It’s also bothering me a lot and feel anxious every time I think about it😭 And whenever I feel motivated and finally start doing these tasks, there’s always this feeling that I feel like it’s not going to be good enough😭🥊

Lol Now I set a timer for 30 minutes and blitz through tasks that I absolutely do not enjoy. I then reward myself with fun activities, repeat this twice daily. I did the lawn myself (2 hours) all spring, but when the heat index was 101 every day for weeks I rehired my lawn guy. I spend my productivity on more important things than cleaning house or mowing lawns. The extra focus spent earning more money to pay others makes sense to me, but women really get guilted over hiring a housekeeper even if they can well afford it.

I love the idea of your 30 min timer/reward system! May have to implement that myself! I’m also ENFP, and I agree regarding wanting to spend my most productive time on creative projects & things of more importance than menial chores (I own a little jewelry business & work from home, so creative projects = my income/livelihood) … once my business became successful it was super difficult for me to keep up with the tedious paperwork side, so I hired a tax guy/book keeper and it changed my life!! Absolutely worth the extra $$. Once I can afford it, I’m totally willing to get a housekeeper - in fact, it’s one of my goals… I have 2 teenage boys as well, so they can do the yard stuff & help around the house, but they are ENTP & INFJ - so, sometimes, none of us really make it through our “chores list” 😅 It’s ridiculous for women to be shamed for needing help with housework, but it certainly does happen… I have family members who think I’m living the easy life, simply because I love what I do and get to work from home… when really, running my own business & raising 2 teenagers as a single mom is a very difficult, time consuming undertaking - I’m not going to feel ashamed for needing all the help I can get! (In other words, I feel you! - sorry for the rant 🤣)

I can DEFINITELY say, that as an INFJ (and a hubby who is also an INFJ) we both had points in our life where the other would be the most productive w house work, and the other has to take on the responsibility/weight of the other. I grew up putting everything off and having a hard time focusing. I had to learn to discipline myself, cuz my parents never made me follow thru w anything. It's just one of those things that you have to realize is a problem, and then once it's addressed it kinda changes your mindset for the time being. But then we can go back to bad habits if the other doesn't hold us accountable. We can def get stuck sometimes when we have stressors, too. But if you find stuff to help you then it's easier and becomes a long term habit. I like to get music going, or listen to something I want to watch while cleaning so I don't feel like I'm losing that self-enjoyment time.

Also, ISFJ pro tip: a couple years ago, I started keeping a journal where I write down what I want to do on my personal/creative projects at the beginning of the month, and then all month, I track what I got done. I started it in order to be more productive, but eventually I realized that a big part of it is because I feel like I never do anything, so having it written down helps boost my confidence that I am not, in fact, The Worst. I highly recommend this approach! (My ISFP sister, who is super chill and does what she wants, affectionately calls it my "Murder Board of Fun." Because it's mostly me writing down art and craft and writing projects and then giving myself credit for doing them.)

My father is an ENFP, and watching him previously get stuck in a Ne-Te loop showed me how productive he really can be. I would argue that it's often the quality of his work that can fall due to 4th slot Si, but generally he gets a larger volume done than me (as an ENFJ) if he is working without distractions. The only way I get productive is if I’m motivated enough to do it, and the only way to motivate me is for me to find said thing interesting. And most times I don’t find the things I’m supposed to do interesting, so that means I have to convince myself that it’s interesting, but I can never delude myself into thinking it’s interesting because I already know it’d be boring, and I always end up turning my attention to something else that actually catches my curiosity. On the plus side, if I *DO* manage to start any task, I usually finish it without any issue. Because my brain is already focused on the task.

Cleaning your desk accomplishes nothing, other than wasting time and energy. It is illogical to do so... Now I will clean it to the point that it doesn't produce health problems, but there are diminishing returns. I know where everything is, there is a method to my madness. I rarely if ever have lost anything in my life. I have a limited amount of energy, and if I spend it in something as useless as keeping my things orderly, I won't have enough energy for the things that actually are important. And even if I do so, what is the point? It doesn't affect me in any way if things are orderly or not, because I will spend most of the time in my head, the sensory is mostly irrelevant to me. Again, it is illogical since it accomplishes nothing and wastes times I could spend learning new things. The only way I could be mindful about it, is because it bothers other people. But then again, I will never fully clean, I will just look for the diminishing returns sweet spot.

One of my core values is that if somebody cares about your work enough to pay you to do it then it's important that you're giving it 100% effort and then some to meet those expectations. As an ISTP, I agree, my first reaction hearing the "tip" was "Nuh-uh, nop". And I have the best for my type: I am the only one that know how to do my work. (And double point, the rules always changes from task to task)

Ngl I'm an ENFP that has always been super productive, especially with school and artistic projects. I realized that I've always been under a lot of stress where I've had to make a lot of quick, important decisions, and get things done. I've always had a packed schedule, where watching youtube (pre-pandemic) was a once-a-week event. In addition, I have an ENFP mother and an ENTP father (also divorced)... meaning that I didn't grow up with a lot of structure. I'm still definitely an ENFP, quirky, imaginative, and "all over the place ," but I've been forced to be able to be more productive than even my SJ peers due to pressure. It's gotten to the point where I can memorize a month of coursework in a few minutes, but can't remember to brush my teeth before I go to bed lol. Any other similar experiences? I'm currently a freshman in high school, by the way... currently dying of lack of time for my creative projects.

As an INFJ-A, I am actually extremely productive. 😊 I do spend a lot of time researching and planning but that actually saves time overall by avoiding potential stumbling blocks and setbacks. Once the planning is done, I go into hyperdrive implementing the plan.

I am an INFJ-A too and you just described me and how my approach to work looks like. Got a little suprised after watching this vid and doubted if I actually am INFJ. Maybe the productivity depends on if you´re an INFJ-A or INFJ-T.

Yeah! I am an INFJ-A and I really get into the planning and it can mean that stuff gets put off for a long time 😂. The good thing is that when I do start based on my quadruple ammended plan, work gets done swiftly, efficiently and excellently.

I can relate! And I have to admit, I was apprehensive to see where I was on the list. As an INTP I can be really productive at work and really good at prioritizing tasks, but when it comes to my daily life and hobbies in which I want to improve (like learning a new language for instance) I tend to make plans and not follow them because I get quickly bored :') At the end I'm still improving, but it takes longer than if I was fully focused all the time.

Hey, it's a cool tip for INTJs. I've had that idea earlier, but I always forget to do it and then I also need to figure out where is it better to organise so I wouldn't lose it 🤔 I find your video really accurate 👍

I relate to the ENFJ advice. Oh, and INFJ, and actually INFP too. Much love to INTPs :) They are better at prioritising than it seems.

As an Intj, I actually do write down the names of items, places, and other important items details in order to keep things organize (or the next best thing for it). Right now, I'm trying to figure out the best way for me to get rich fast.

As an INFP. I can say that even though we are not very productive, we are still be able to have great ideas and achieve some great things when the world need us most in its darkest time. Thanks to our creativity, morality, innocence and the optimism about the brightness of the future. Yeah, we may be sensitive and sometimes depressed but because of our loved ones, we always know the right time to come back to our normal state.

ISTJ here. I definitely like focusing on a few things at a time, and don't really enjoy having to stop what I'm doing and leave it hanging just to move onto something else. But that's what life is like in the real world so I deal with it. And I am not good with delegating. It can take longer to explain what I need done than it does to actually do it myself. And I really hate wasting time.
