The genius of this scene is that he is simultaneously speaking to Roz and the (without realizing it) the listeners of the Spokane show he has replaced, who are mad at him because he has replaced a beloved local personality. The reason Roz was making a call in the first place was because all the real calls were just people telling him he sucked. Then he wins them over with this. Great writing.

I love these moments where Frasier is allowed to show in full that he is a very competent therapist and even inputs that to help his friends and family. This scene probably contends with the one of him and Niles analysing the latter's relationship with Daphne throughout the series.

Grammer rarely gets the kudos he deserves. Which sounds silly considering how most people see the show as one of the best, if not the best of all time (I certainly do), but people talk way more about Martin and Niles than Frasier. The entire cast is fantastic of course and all of them have a catalogue of brilliant moments from the show, but ultimately Frasier is the pillar that holds it all together, from start to finish. He carries the show when he needs to and gives others room to flourish when it's their turn. All of the cast members are great by themselves. But what truly elevated it all was Kelsey Grammer always doing whatever was needed for any given scene to shine, and putting them out of the park at a 100% batting rate.

One of the more emotional clips from the show, well built up to, and anyone who has been in same situation can relate. It's true, the heart ache of trying is real, but the risk is it leads to something lasting and real. Wish this showed the calls after. One simply says to hang in there which is probs the only decent advice which can be given. Hope we all find something worth while eventually.

Having been heartbroken more than a couple of times this hits home. It's funny (not really funny) how the outwardly strong and happy-go-lucky people like Roz are often the most emotional inwardly and get struck down the hardest. Time and friends/family are the only healers of this wound.

I've been on a Frasier kick the last month or so. Back in the day when the show debuted, I wasn't that excited about it's prospects. Frasier Crane was a character that amused me on Cheers, but not really a favorite part of the ensemble. Obviously, the writing and the whole ensemble of supporting actors/actresses on Frasier is close to perfection. But Kelsey really makes it all go. He's, at times, a neurotic buffoon and an insufferable fool and egomaniac. But at heart, he's really a genuinely sweet person with actual wisdom and love to impart. That's not an easy duality to pull off. Amazing stuff.

The first minute of this clip has Frasier reflecting the audience's reaction (or laugh track, but I think this show was filmed before an audience), like "Really? You can do better than that". Then, it becomes, "Oh...you're not kidding." I have not seen this episode in a while, but I do think the audience is back to laughing again after Kenny comes in to remind them that they are still on the air. Still, for those 2 minutes, I would not be surprised if some in the audience were drying tears of their own.
