Don't forget the one where Daphne is away at the "spa" and she's really having a baby in real life. Niles and Roz are at Nervosa talking. Roz asks about Daphne. Niles says, "She's doing well. She's already lost nine pounds, twelve ounces."

Kristie Snively I hated that plot line. They so easily could have sent her back to England: accidental deportation, Grammy Moon's death, something other than "she's fat and needs to be less so." It was just lazy writing IMO.

It was not lazy writing.. She was over eating because of her relationship with Niles due to his obsession of her over the past 5 or so years. It flushed out their relationship more and allowed them to move forward as a couple. Very psychological and appropriate for a show about 2 psychiatrists.

@@RaraRemi_312 Cecil was Sideshow Bob's brother in the Simpsons, just in case you didn't know. The characters are a direct reference to Fraiser and Niles hehe 😋 They're competitive, artsy, kinda snooty, and share a "refined" taste. It was a great way to pay tribute to Kelsey's career and take advantage of the hilarious dynamic these two have. Their characters in the Simpsons are alot more violent though to be fair. Bob is constantly trying to murder people and Cecil tries to drown the entire town be destroying a dam. It's like if Fraiser and Niles became deranged killers competing with eachother.

If it's on in the evening, then I pour a sherry 🍸 what else. Best show ever, it never gets old. Genius writing, great comedic timing, especially from, my favourite Niles aka David Hyde Pearce and great talent...ALL of them. I only wish I could come back a hundred years from now and still see people laughing. RIP to David Angell and his wife, one of the brilliant writers, who died on Flight 11 that crashed into the first of the 9/11 Twin Towers....and John Mahoney, aka Martin Crane. Cheers.

You missed the 'Martin mocking Daphne's accent' The inside joke being that John Mahoney was born in Blackpool and brought up in Manchester while Jane Leeves is from Essex. Although he had long since lost his Manchester accent since arriving in the States in 1959, John Mahoney schooled Leeves for Daphne's Mancunian twang from her own natural southern English [what Americans would expect as a traditional British accent]

Actually, he has a reputation for being a bit sharp -- ''doesn't suffer fools gladly'' -- that sort of thing. Which isn't unusual among very smart, very talented people who are deluged by public attention. I wonder whether you're making the entirely understandable mistake of the appreciative viewer: Seeing what you want to see, or confusing the actor with what you like about the character. (No offense intended; we all do it.) ........... John Mahoney, on the other hand, had a reputation as a very down-to-earth person, somewhat more approachable (tho I'm sure he had his limits as well).

Not to mention he plays Niles so effortlessly, someone who is a little innocent and gentle, it seems like it could be his natural personality

RE: the first scene where Frasier sarcastically says Niles' reaction to Roz's date means he's gay. Reminds me of the episode where the new (male) station manager gets the impression Frasier is gay and wants to date the new manager, while at the same time Frasier tries to fix up the new manager with Roz. Don't recall the name of the episode, but the concluding scene is one of the best. Similar to the episode where Patrick Stewart plays the opera director and starts a gay relationship with Frasier. Frasier knows it, but is enjoying the perqs of the relationship too much to be honest with Stewart, until the closing scene, another classic.

He tries to fix up the new manager with Daphne, not Roz. That of course creates all sorts of misunderstandings and makes Niles jealous until he discovers the truth and then gets a good laugh at Frasier's expense. Very funny episode.

At the risk of being, well ... something ... I can imagine that is wasn't particularly hard for Sir Patrick Stewart to play, with subtlety, a gay guy -- instead of the stereotypical 'minceing queen' -- given both his acting skills, and his close friendship with Sir Ian Mckellen, the latter having been out for years ...

After just watching this clip earlier today, I was watching an episode on Cozi TV tonight when Nanny G ( an ex-wife of Frasier's). She has this great line when she's complaining about playing the part of a children's entertainer and says to Frasier" Do you have any idea what it's like to play the same character for 20 years?" Well, at that point , between Cheers and Frasier, Kelsey had been playing Frasier, you guessed it, 20 years. A missed opportunity for this video
@keepdancingmaria

Nanny G was played by the amazing Emma Thompson on the Cheers episode. So that line would have been really funny had they managed to snag her to play the part again. You are right though, that is still a funny line and a true inside joke.

Well, he DID play a judge in a movie, which is still in that kind of public service area. It was the 1987 movie "Suspect" where Cher was the attorney, and Dennis Quaid was working with her on the case of a wrongly accused deaf man, played by the star of "Taken, Liam Neeson. I thought Cher played that role quite well. John Mahoney played an angry judge. I remember that. I should watch the movie again to figure out why. I vaguely remember him being angry to keep from being found out, being guilty of something illegal in the whole thing. Not sure what. A coverup? IN cahoots with the police and it was a corrupt cops hit? Dang! Now I want to watch it again! Here's an image of John Mahoney as the judge: www.imdb.com/title/tt0094082/mediaviewer/rm2760843520?ft0=name&fv0=nm0001498&ft1=image_type&fv1=still_frame

I've been watching "Frasier" on Netflix. I forgot how addicting it is. I watched this show as a child and young pre-teen and I honestly believe that was a reason why I was intellectually ahead of my peers, especially when it came to literary, musical, or travel references. Why can't there be shows like this anymore?! I need to get it all on DVD just in case I can't find it in the future, that way my children can watch it as well.

I remember being 5 when this was on tv. For me Fraiser meant that wrestling was over and my parents would then take over the tv and watch it and i would get up and play in my room. I then watched the whole series randomly 6 years ago when I was 22 and loved every second of it. It’s just had so many memorable moments and since I took psychology and sociology in high school I actually understood a lot of the jokes like “Pygmalionism” and the competing ideas of Jung and Freud that comes up between Niles and Frasier. I can see why it won so many emmys and Kelsey grammar was the highest paid tv star at the time!

Sadly I had a lot of time on my hands so I watched my fair share of series :P... I can't find another series where the humor is well, so clean but able to expose the worst of what humans have to give sometimes, very neat and witty as Julia would describe Niles . I know that they were armed with top writers, but I doubt any other actors would've blended as they did, for me - it's a masterpiece.

I was very happy to read your comment about this show helping you through rough times. The episode in season seven called Radio Wars made a deep impact on me when Frazier said to Roz as he was getting ready to confront two hecklers who mocked him on the air, he said, “the only way they win is if they change you!” I was profoundly moved by that line and took it to heart and practice it in my daily life. Honest to god, when I feel overwhelmed with negative thoughts I think about that line and I feel better. Good luck to you.
