i’m hitting 700k monthly’s tomorrow 100% independently which is wild to me. i dropped once every 2 weeks this year (25 songs) and im consistently getting 110-120k streams daily now. blows my mind the results but at the same time, ive never fully devoted so much time and effort and passion into something my whole life. so thank you Nic for being the inspiration and motivator when no one around me really encourages me except my family and wife. i’m just a kid who blew up on the internet but im eternally grateful. love from Raleigh NC✌🏼

Top artist for ~50k people is nuts. I was Top artist for 3 people (one of whom was me) which means there are 2 people in this world who actually listen to my music more than anything else... it's kinda hard to wrap your head around when you think about it. Also loved the book, it's a must read (or listen).

Im in the same boat. My band was the top artist for like...9 people? Regardless of the number, its insane to think about even a few people enjoy the music that much.

Comparison is really the thief of joy, and it's something I'm stopping myself from doing now - which I'm using your advice from your book, where I've unfollowed and muted most of those who I compare myself to. And the difference is incredible: - Less time on social media / more time on content creation - Less time listening to music / more time making music, noting and recording my thoughts and ideas for music and content I'm not perfect though, there are times where I have the occasional scroll through other peoples social feeds and listen to other peoples music when I should be making more music or note-taking. But I am finding myself less distracted. Consuming less, creating more. Thank you once again for your amazing book. It's material I find myself look through (and listen to) when I need that kick up the butt. 🙏🏼

Bro networking is the key to music. Yah create as much as you can. But networking is being on social media. You don't even have to post. If you network. That blows anything out the roof. But everybody has their own way.

@@frdiforartists I appreciate you so much!!!! 🙏🏼
@APWestMusic9 ай бұрын
@@fizmusic9529 Absolutely, networking is important. I still dedicate time to engaging on other posts by my musician-friends. My original comment is more on the lines about how I was at a point in my life where I wasn't creating as much as I wanted to, but instead was just consuming a lot of content and being distracted by it.

Hit 2 million streams this year but honestly the fact that was crazy was what you said about the top artist, I had 100 people have me as their top artist, TOP! That's insane to me and you're so right about creating a deeper connection that's truly how you develop such a strong supporter base and that'll be one of my goals next year. Thank you so much Nic and I thoroughly enjoyed your book and can't wait for your next one!

Thanks to your book , which was useful indeed, the most hitting was the book name "do you want it bad enough?" This was the question which got me numb for a moment, and I realized like "oh snap! i really want it" so I'm doing most what I can starting from music, which luckily I can make from start to finish by myself including recording, and release weekly or at least once in few weeks, and content presence, and creating connections with people. Time started just evaporating immediately, but i truly believe it is the investment of everything for myself, and i really got a few fans, one of which has top 5 all my songs in spotify, which is like woooooow, and few people who listen to me now regularly too, so I think it's a matter of time when consistency will lead me to something unknown but worthy Oh, what I really mean by that is Thank you, Nic, thanks to you I'm grinding like never before

I really like the way you’ve switched up your strategy to these chilled, minimalistic videos with little editing dude! It’s super refreshing and I can see what you’re aiming to do, but if it’s something you’re gonna continue with I would offer a critique (just personal opinion but other people may share it and it could help 🤍) The main thing is that the slower pace is nice, but the opening was hard to get through as you’d cut, then spend the next 15-20 seconds repeating what you’d literally just said, and that happened a couple times through the video. So from my POV I was thinking “if it wasn’t a Nic D video’ I would’ve clicked off” and even though I stuck around this time, if it became a trend people probably will lose patience with it and not check back. Even though I really love the slower style and feel that’s where things are heading with content, I just thought I’d offer my personal view on a couple things that may make them better for viewers. Thank you for the videos and for the guidance 🤍

Thanks for the feedback. Since I’m not scripting/writing out anything before hand and I’m just rambling my thoughts after I press record I’m sure I’m going to repeat myself every now and again. I don’t mind if people click off. Im just trying to share my thoughts and help out artists if they care to listen/watch. If this channel stays super small and only the people who know about it right now watch the videos, I’m ok with that. This is the most realistic approach for me to be able to be able to get videos up for people. I’ll try to be mindful of repeating myself but I’m sure it’ll keep happening. All love, thanks for sticking through this video and I hope you found value in it. 🤝

@@frdiforartists that’s completely fair, and it was just a small 1% improvement I noticed but not a dealbreaker for sure! Again, thank you for all the help that you do offer us aspiring artists/small businesses, really looking forward to seeing more of your stuff 😁 Also side note - I was listening to one of the old NDPNDNT podcasts and you were talking with Connor about social media content and said there was a tip you gave him about how to convert people to Spotify better, but then said you were going to put it in the course, is that course out rn? 👀

Thanks boss! I’ve been tuning into your channels for the past few weeks and rethinking my approach. You’ve definitely given me some much needed guidance. I was always afraid of really where to put my energy and not ever committed to any one thing. I’ve made a plan and I’m going to stick to it this year. i also agree with your statement on the book cover. I think no matter how or what you do, it all comes down to how much you personally want it. Because when you do, you figure shit out, that’s what the human brain was made for. Wish me luck on learning how to make my own choices and follow through when the going gets tough. Thanks nic! Much love brotha. Who knows, maybe we’ll be knitting some wool gloves together on the porch one day lol
