I have a wooden push pull rack that looks like a ruler and I say its a valuable tool, especially because Im in a wheelchair so getting close to the main oven is a challenge at any time. Being able to pull the rack out, grab the pan safely and push it back is very useful to me.

My stepmom found one at a handmade goods sale and gave it to me for Christmas years ago. I’m not in a wheelchair or anything like that, but I find it handy if I want to pull the rack out to do things like basting or to see if my baked goods are fully done.

I am in a chair too but am curious how do you get dishes out of the oven that require both hands? Or let me guess, you have a regular stove? We have a double wall oven so anything I take out of the oven requires me to hold with one hand while I move the chair over at least a few feet. Problem is if its really almost anything other than a cake, its too heavy for me to hold with one hand.

Happy New Year James. Two things that I must say. First, as far as the oven rack doo-dad goes, using a good pair of metal tongs does the job just as well and you probably have a pair to begin with. The second thing... The wife and I both love corn on the cob but as being seniors with no teeth, the corn stripper is ideal for us at the next barbecue/corn roast. I ordered a set of 2 after watching this video. Can't wait to see the look on our nieces face when we whip those suckers out.

My mom had no teeth since before I was born. She gained and lost a lot of weight so her dentures didn't fit anymore and they couldn't afford new ones so she ate everything with her gums. I mean everything, even steak. However, picnic season of course she couldn't eat corn on the cob like the rest of us so she placed the corn vertically on her plate then took a sharp knife and sawed the corn off the cob and was able to eat it. Where theres a will theres a way. BTW, thru the years she could have gotten them but my dad and us kids were everything. She would never let anyone spend money on her. I think by that point she had gotten used to no teeth and she didn't look like most do without them. I lost mine about 10 years ago and you better believe I got dentures!

I have a wooden version of the rack puller that I got years ago from my dad and stepmom. She found it at a handmade goods sale and it was part of my Christmas present. I use it when I’m tooth picking my baked goods to see if they’re done or to baste meats. The corn peeler would be great for people who like to prepare and freeze or can corn for the winter. @@bostonrailfan2427 It's totally different than using a chef knife, at least to me. The mechanics of using a chef knife is very different than using the peeler. With the chef knife, you need to break out the cutting board to do it safely. With the peeler, you can do it right over the bowl. I'd imagine the peeler is safer too, just as it's safer to use a peeler to peel a potato than using a chef/paring knife. But to each their own!

@@bostonrailfan2427 You would freehand cut that corn on the cob with a chef knife without using a cutting board? That seems a bit too haphazard for me. When I use a chef knife to cut corn, I hold the corn perpendicular to the cutting board with one hand, and then with the other hand, I take the chef knife and cut down from the top of the cob. That is a very different process than using the peeler.

7:00 I have one of the oven sticks from the 1940s and it works amazing, I'm 44 years old. Mine is from an antique store and made of wood. Both my grandmothers used one and theirs also were made of wood. My one grandmother served in WWII in the Coast Guard so that should give you an idea of her prime times in the kitchen. This is a very old and at one time staple kitchen item.

If you have something heavy on a hoy oven rack two of those push/pull sticks can save you. As akid we made those at home from wood scraps. That add on handle for pans can be hepful to give you two handles to better hadle a big pan. My parents had a cookware set tht came with ONE handle and you moved it from pan to pan. My dad found a parts store that sold replacements for kitchen stuff. We bought three extra handles and often used two at a time.

The extra handle might work well for someone like me who has very weak and arthritic hands by adding a second handle to say a saucepan or something. Pouring leftovers into a container is impossible for me with just 1 hand. If I had 2 handles, the contents may not be heavy but it might be one less area that I have to ask my husband to help with. Many times I don't think you realize that many gadgets would be of use to the disabled. I am a long time viewer/subscriber and this one area bothers me. Thanks, love your channel as always

The corn peeler looks great, the oven rack puller is something I have wanted to get for quite a long time but never think of looking for one, I already have a lemon reamer/juicer that is similar to that one but without the seed catcher, and it has a zester on one end. A tip for people who have something with a similar zester, they are also great to use on a hard brick of butter to basically zest some butter off which will soften almost instantly to spread on toast in the morning. The handle is basically worthless, if you break the handle off a pan, you may as well put the money towards a new pan instead of a handle that may or may not work. One little note... that was your heaviest frying pan? Are you saying you do not have any cast iron skillets? The original kitchen workhorse? I am stunned, James! Maybe you need to do a test on a few different cast iron skillets.

Personally I use a wooden spoon slip between the wires pull out oven mitt to push in. I can't justify spending extra money for a single use gadget. I would say these are pretty niche products, but I can see a couple of them being useful. The oven rack push-pull tool is great for keeping your hands away from hot oven racks, especially if you want to teach kids how to cook. The corn peeler was the most impressive in my opinion though. For the juicer, I think I would rather use a regular juicer, and then use a strainer to remove the pulp and seeds. It seems like you had to hold the juicer in a very specific way just to catch the pulp and seeds.

Great video! I thought that lemon juicer was going to explode when you tried an orange on it! INTENSE!

OK imagine you are in Texas and your Texas mom has just had her hair done for the holiday with 30 guests over. She has a can and a half of hairspray keeping the majestic halo aloft. And now it's time for her to get the rolls out of the oven... The oven stick makes some sense. Plus kids can make one out of a paint stick as a gift for Mom/Grandma.

Pan handle looks like the ones you get with Tefal Ingenio pans and Backen pans. I am sure the pan needs a little lip to tuck under the rim the handle has. I could not see correctly in the unboxing as it was shot on a dark background. I use the Backen pans at home and recommend!

The puller hook seems like one of them things you almost never need but that one or two times it gets used there a lifesaver. A few times over the years I’ve had to quickly move a hot rack and it’s always awkward and I’ve always come closet burning myself (luckily 41 years and only 2 burns both when I was a young kid, actually 3 but that third was me trying to cast white metal and an air pocket expanded sending molten metal flying, aka I was silly and got a smack on the wrist I was lucky I only got a small scar)

I think the oven rack thing is useful. I have burnt my hand a few times even using oven mits to get the tray out of a counter top oven. That glass can be deadly.

Hey I noticed your air fryer. We have the same one and I struggle getting the sear plate really clean. What do you use to clean it?

The oven rack thing looked good. Burned myself on the toaster oven several times. I grabbed an unused paint stirring stick and my dremel tool and made a free one in about 5 minutes lol

The replacement handle-when you did the boiling water thing you picked a pot that had no lip. I really think that tool only works if there’s a lip. The fact that it does ratchet into place under the lip means you could get some sideways slippage but in theory it wouldn’t totally drop the pan. Still problematic with hot food since slippage could unbalance the load. If you like corn but eating off the cob isn’t your thing, that corn thing would be a great tool. I’m guessing it’s fresher, cheaper, and works better than a knife. Speaking as someone who occasionally burns my hands, I’m still meh on the push/pull thing. What’s wrong with a pot holder or silicone finger protector? The lemon thingy-I kind of like that zester. It’s a little at a time but I often skin a finger using a regular zester, and then I have to use something to get the zest off the tool and into the sauce or whatever. That looks like it’s more finger-safe and easier to get the zest where it should be. The rest of the tool, I’m not a fan.

For the handle I would keep in mind that some people do like shaking pans to mix or flip. so shaking a pan in the air really isn't a bad way to test the handle, since people really DO do that sometimes. At work i shake pans all of the time. Its a quick way to mix without using a spoon. If a handle gradually slips on certain pans and you like to shake its probably not the best handle to have. I like the idea but i guess its only fair that it would grip some pan shapes better than others

I was impressed with the corn peeler. Those of us who like fresh corn but can't eat it off the cob (like with dentures) will appreciate this gadget.

My mother had a similar item to the oven rack push/pull gadget. Hers was made of wood. I can't remember where she got it and we haven't found one since. The one you reviewed might work for her. Thanks!
