yep but people pay it i guess, which is crazy. I make candles as a hobby for friends/family, and don't charge them. A typical Soy Candle of around 9oz in size has about 3-4$ in supplies and materials at my cost; Glass jar about 2$ and the wax and fragrance are about 1$ each per candle, wicks are like 15-25c each (wood wick about 75c to 1$). Keep in mind, I am not buying the wax, jars, fragrance in bulk but If i were, the cost would be even lower. This company, DIO, charges 43$ per candle and upwards of 130$!!!!!! ... People are dumb if they are paying those prices.
@sailorbrite15 күн бұрын
Handmade small batch goods. If they’re mixing their own proprietary fragrances, that costs a lot. And they need to use a lot of fragrance because soy candles are notorious for not having good scent throw.
@goose-lw6js14 күн бұрын
yep those prices are absolutely nuts even for artisan candles. i make my own candles using soy wax or a rapeseed/coconut blend with 8 - 10% FO and theres no way anyone should pay that much for a pretty boring looking candle. not even wood wicks or some fun wax texture or fancy jars or anything. those fragrances aren't super special either, you can get tooons of weird premium FOs from candle making suppliers.
@saralynn51813 күн бұрын
@@goose-lw6js That's what I am thinking - making your own scents or getting weird fragrance oils is not that unheard of. At least make the candles 5 times the size. 4 oz is nothing. The labels look low quality. I bet the most money is spent on the ink for the printer.

Hello! I believe I know why Thunderstorm is not quite right. Those of us here in the Southwest (I'm in AZ and you in NV) our Thunderstorms are not the same due to the dirt, tumbleweeds and other desert botanicals. Many of my East Coast peeps say it is a unique smell after a decent rain. My guess is the candle has some of the "green" scent of other parts of the country (the sweet notes you couldn't quite place).

I lived in Phoenix for about 48-1/2 years (most of my life!) and thunderstorms were pretty rare! I don’t even remember what they smelled like🫢. But now live in NC and yes, they do smell different - when I happen to venture outside! Maybe it’s the kudzu that makes it smell different🤔🥴😧🤭😀
@mikesmithz13 күн бұрын
People are wrong. The majority of the smell of rain is due to trapped gasses in the dirt getting pushed out of the ground and into the air. This is the main smell. Then you have the aerosol oils and the ozone caused by lightning. All rain smells radically different based on the bacteria in the soil.

Since I bet a lot of us would only want to buy it to try it out, the $6 version seem reasonable. I hope they make a cinnamon roll candle so my Wife and Kids can wake up to false hopes.

So many awesome breakfast scents. Million dollar bacon. Breakfast in bed. Good morning blueberry pancakes. But first coffee. Apple spiced donuts.

My first ever purchase from your videos Jim. Thunderstorm. Ive been watching for YEARS. I am not happy about the price but i must know if its anything close. I think that maybe you dont know what an Illinois thunderstorm smells like and i need to know if this was a true representation. Also, i have a sister that moved to Phoenix and this would be a fun gift

I imagine that these candles are used to be like a mind trick to make you feel as if you were there at the place or in the set of the place. If you can't go

I own an used bookstore but I doubt you can get those candles here in Argentina. Cool idea, though

I’d like to find one that smells like 90’s school desk cleaner that smell is super nostalgic to me from when I was in grade school in the 90’s as a kid lol.

If you want to do another one of these, and you like disney theme parks. You should look at the Magic Candle Company in their Magical Fragrances section, they mimic the smells of Popular Disney theme park rides.

There was something about the lighting in old school video stores, which made me break wind... So I'd imagine the smell is that.
