I think what may have happened on cake #2 was that you flipped it as soon as you closed it. You pour in the batter and a thin layer is cooked. You close it and suddenly flip it. Now the bulk of the batter drops down and cooks normal, while the thin layer sticks to the top and burns.

The cake worked for us just fine. I think the problem you had with the second cake was that you started it upside down. We stirred just coke into the cate batter until runny, but not too runny, and then cooked 3 cakes in a row, no need to wait for it to cool down or flip. Jus pour, add candy and then top off. Close for 4-5min (i think 4.5 min is perfect). Thanks for the video!

These little units are great for cooking a single quick meal. But I agree with you, they really dropped the ball with not having removable plates and a damn power switch.

@NickyM_0 6 жыл бұрын
MrCougar214 It amazes me that they made it like that in the 2000s??? What cooking apparatus doesn't have an on/off button and a temperature gage for heating something??? It's brand marketing is that it cooks in 5 mins but it doesn't even have an in-built timer. The guy had to use his microwave timer. It seems like cheap, branded Chinese electronics from Aliexpress being sold to the Western market for $40 when it should be $7.99! It is marketed as having 2 hotplates but then you have to fiff & faff with turning it upside down when clearly the design is not made to do that and they are not proud to show that aspect on the infomercial!

I have this and use it everyday. Almost 3 yrs now. As I am only cooking for myself, I’ll zap a few vegetables in the microwave, drop in some meat like Sausages, chops, rissoles, chicken, steak. And in no time at all I have dinner. Love an omelette for breakfast so I have various combinations I can do. Need a snack, folded slice of bread with cheese and ham, a toasted sandwich. It’s a great item. However, when you clean it or have an overflow from the channel, liquid sits in the base until you go to stand it up to store and you end up with a mess. The paint is flaking and the clip has broken, but when you cook for 1, it’s so much easier to clean up that several different pots and pans and the various other pieces needed to cook on the stove top.

I own a similar device called the Ready-Set-Go Express. It’s amazing for cooking frozen food like pizza rolls and egg rolls. Same or better results than the oven without over heating the house on a hot summer day. I'm always attracted to kitchen gadgets, I find some live up to the hype some don't, this one definitely does. It's a single person's dream. It's saved me so much time and money. For myself I defrost a single chicken thigh or drumstick and stick it in the machine, cooks perfectly, no splatter or fuss. I make really nice treats from pre-rolled puff pastry. And it gets rid of the snot on a fried egg if you like the yolk quite soft. I took apart just to see what was in the inside and it looked really well made the heating element is bonded right into the aluminium cooking parts. Highly recommend it.

The first couple reviews I saw I did wonder about the length, not for me but just because across most KZbin demographics videos longer than maybe 11-12 minutes tend to have attention fall off. I don’t see that happening with your videos. Some channels have no problem breaking those rules. You’re doing a real service and the people who watch your videos are either the folks looking to purchase these items or similar ones, or the types that watch infomercials or even reviews in general. The format you’ve been making is perfect. I really enjoy your videos, I’ve been “ghost subbed” for a few weeks but I actually subbed today because I don’t wanna chance missing new stuff. I found one this weekend at a charity shop for $5 thinking it would be fun for the kids. There isn't a recipe booklet but the kids are eager to give it a go - especially the lava cake idea. As for burgers, make them thinner to provide more even temp and thorough cooking. Always use a thermometer when cooking meat - and please wash your hands after handling raw meat *shudder* Thanks for a fun review!

We got ours as a gift. It takes all the guesswork out of cooking eggs. If you're making a loaded omelet with lots of meat, etc., 2.5 min per side is about right. But if all you add is cream and maybe a little cheese, 2 minutes is plenty. I've been using it to make eggs for my kids' breakfast every morning. Much healthier than sugary cereal.

I have one and use it often ... love it. I love ham and cheese omlets in it. Cake #2 you placed the batter in the top and flipped it immediately ... leaving only a small amount of batter to cook by itself while the rest of it was cooking in the bottom. Cake #3 had no extra moisture from a candy bar and cooked faster. Hamburger patties should be as flat as possible when you put them in and flip half way through.

Then I let all the water drain out. I think only wiping them clean is gross. I figured if the waffle maker broke after I washed it, it wasn't worth keeping. Thankfully, it still works fine.

I bought this unit in South Africa a view days ago and I think it works perfectly, I went back to buy another two one for my Caravan and the other for my Father in law. Please remember this is a flip over unit so everything that you want to cook time must always be be halved for the best result to cook nice and evenly. Omelette 2min a side doesn't matter what is added the lesser time cooked per side the softer the omelette. This unit is made to be flipped over and that's the key. If the burgers was flipped over say after 2.5min per side the result wood have been much better and the same with the chicken. With the George Foreman unit both sides press down on the meat etc that's why the 5 min chef needs to be flipped over for the same result, in my view an excellent product works great. O yes the unit stays on but its got a built in regulator switch that regulates the temperature that's why when in use the green light switches on and of.

This was 15 minutes of packed info! You have a very organized style in your review of this item and that is very helpful. I picked up one of these things at Goodwill today but it has no instructions so I'm using your review to give me some idea of what I can use this for and how to go about using it. I am ASSUMING that all these trials were preceded by having the device ON and fully brought up to temperature? You mention about the cake starting out with it COLD so that might be the exception? (i.e. biscuits, etc. have it fully warmed up, green light ON?) As I experiment with this myself, I'm sure some of these answers will be forthcoming all on their own! No one can complain about the length of a video if it has useful things in it. This video you did on this appliance certainly meets that criteria. Thanks!

Thank you for your post. I just picked up one of these (without a box or instructions) at a resale shop. Only paid 6 bucks. I don't normally...but the communal use of the micro wave at work has me gagging! So far I have only used it to make quesadillas and to re heat pizza slices--so it was nice to see that it handles patties and poultry as well. I hate fast food...and the thought that I can get something fast in such a healthy way really is really appealing. Stows well in my mini locker at work too! I look forward to many great creations--so thanks for the tips and inspiration...!

I just bought this.....and I made steak my first time....and it was about 5 min, but I like mine quite pink. The steak was very juicy, but it didnt cook as evenly as the Foreman usually does. However....this is smaller and I will put my Foreman to storage and keep this handy since I work overnights and I can cook many more things in this. Thanks for your demo...now I know how long to cook chicken!

Does this cooker cook a chicken breast? As a single senior person this looks like it might be an easier way to go than on the stove.

I noticed after a year of use mine leaked oil/grease out the place the power cord comes out. Took it apart and its completely full of food grease and I'm shocked it did not shock us or catch fire. When you rotate food grease leaks into the internals. I would replace once a year. We only used it twice a week for a year also.

I own this item and make omelets with vegies ham and cheese that are great. As you pointed out it is very useful if you are cooking for one. I have cooked egg rolls, hot sandwiches, reheated pizza, cooked a steak, cooked meatballs and chicken. And I'm still experimenting. It has always cleaned out with wet paper towels for me.

Most universities won't allow these types of cooking machines into the halls. They consider it a fire hazard. Residents can only rely on the microwave.

I think the point of this little cooker is for single people that do not want to cook a ton of food! I bought one for my 83 yr old grandmother....she can freeze or refrigerate the remaining food until she’s ready to cook it. My husband is making us individual blueberry pies with it right now...love this little cooker!!

The effort was great on this one man! However the George foreman can’t be replicated no matter how people try but there’s a reason it didn’t make cakes or biscuits etc cause the crazy amount of years that was on the market they would have come out with that version.

I drive long haul and cooking on the truck can be a chalange some times. Picked one of these up at Wal-Mart just to see how it worked- for the size I had to try it. I didnt read the instructions past learning that theres no on off switch (I agree that its a little bit of a flawed call on the manufacturer's part) but I tried it out while I portioned out my meats, first up was some drum sticks, little salt and pepper, olive oil and chilli powder (mind you I had not seen the advertisements for this thing or read reviews-none of that; full on blind test) only 2 fit in it, had them in for about 15 min flipping about every 4. No seal had the oil spilling out, but other than that they came out perfect. Next up tried one of the preformed burger pattys, had to break it in half, took about 10 min and flipped after 5; came out perfect. For the size and convenience I'd say its Deffinately worth it for truckers, though I wish it was a little bigger. Cleaned up very easy with a damp cloth

You are giving a review but then not using the machine as per the instructions. It clearly states that the lid should NOT be fastened down when it is cooking. Not sure what impact this may have but you are potentially showing people how to use it incorrectly .

From Amazon review: After suffering a couple “egg explosions”, I finally figured out how to use this pan. Before turning the egg over, I open the lid to vent the steam build-up, turn the unit over carefully and leave the pan unlatched as the egg expands during cooking. By locking the pan, the pressure builds up and blows the lid and spits egg everywhere. I have not had a single problem since I’ve been using the pan this way. It is difficult to clean, but I pour water in the well, replug it and close the lid. The water will boil very quickly and after it cools a bit, I empty the pan and wipe it clean. The hot water will loosen any residue from cooking. I hope this helps. Maybe next model will have tiny vent holes to allow steam to escape.

It only "explodes" if it builds enough pressure to lift the lid for the steam to escape. Just don't lock it when cooking food that produces excess moisture.
