I've used a lot of pans, OXO non-stick, Le Creuset non-stick (these are really good), ScanPan, Tfal, etc. I have to say for daily use the Ninja Neverstick is my favorite. It has good, even heat distribution that helps with a full pan of anything (usually bacon). It doesn't get nicked and scraped like some pans so you don't have to baby it. Clean up is a breeze. The only thing I've found as good is the Le Creuset non-stick stuff but that stuff costs like three times more and you have to baby them a lot more. The Ninja non-stick is where it's at. I own this pan and noticed that it absolutely takes a longer time to heat up compared to my older nonstick pans, which would explain the differences you saw in the cheese test. It has a lot of thermal mass, but that also means that it's a nonstick pan that can give you a good sear on a steak!
@myNEONCITY2 жыл бұрын
You should never use Non-stick to sear meats. High temperatures lead the plastic Non-stick coating to off gas dangerous fumes. Only use these pans on medium heat or lower. Get yourself a proper cast iron or stainless steel pan and your sear will come out better too.

One thing to keep in mind is that because different materials and thicknesses in materials, its possible that one pan might heat up quicker than another. So a timed test is not always effective and could be why the hex clad one burned so much faster.
@tonod242 жыл бұрын
@Adam7986 - You are absolutely correct. The same heat/timed test is not effective when comparing two pans of differing material/weights. When searing, the pan that heats up the quickest will form a crust and release what you are searing quicker, which is why the shrimp stuck more to the Ninja verse the Granite Rock. This is also the rationale behind the cheese burning in the hexclad verse not burning in the ninja. For pans that conduct heat better, you have to learn how to cook at lower temps to get the same results. I've been cooking with the Hexclad for years now and absolutely love them but the Ninja NeverStick in my opinion is a very close, cost effective, second. HexClad's are built to last on average 20-30 years verses the 5 years for most traditional non-stick pans. This is why Hexclad's are so much more expensive. Also, not sure why most reviewers always do the egg challenge without seasoning the pans first. Most cookware states that in addition to intially washing pans in hot soapy water and drying, you should season them before begining to cook with them for the first time. If this were the case, the egg whould have slide around in the Hexclad with no problem.

My exact thoughts. He says it’s states it takes longer to heat … but he still gives them the same amount of time. Of course the others burned, lol they heat up quicker and were burning. Doesn’t really make it a fair comparison.

one problem I notice immediately, is those rivets on the handle that go through to the inside. on my pan that has those too, food won't stick to the nonstick surface but always sticks to those rivets and they're hard to clean
@johnruiz67433 жыл бұрын
Try a stiff brush. That will clean around the rivets on any pan. I would use a nylon brush vs brass/copper/steel though so you don't scratch it up.

After watching the infomercial I did some research then bought the 11 piece set on sale at Kohl’s for between $100-150 ( it was a while ago). I love it. Enjoyed your review. My advice is to clean while it’s still warm. Comes clean with a paper towel.

I cook without any oil or butter so I appreciate that you did it both ways. I bought a Neverstick. So far, so good. But it is only a few months. I use a dishwasher so having one that doesn't get destroyed by the dishwasher was the most important part.

Why do you cook without oil or butter?
@JasonStillwell2 жыл бұрын
They make 2 types of these pants with the same coating. One is a thick pan (as you have here) which is similar in performance to a cast iron skillet. And the other is a thin stainless, which would probably act more like your hex-clad. If you want fast heatup and don't need as even temperature distribution. The stainless doesn't need the special bottom stippling to work on magnetic hobs. I have both types.

@BeefT-Sq3 жыл бұрын
I bought and tested the 8" model of the Ninja pan . It works . Read the directions FCS . Because it is thick and its non-stick surface trades away some slickness for durability, you must pre-heat it properly before putting the food in ( about 3-4 min. on a gas stove and 5 minutes on an electric stove ) . Use medium heat or a touch hotter . The thickness makes it heat evenly and should protect against warpage . Let all pans cool completely before washing . Tests that involve abuse of the pan or unrealistic conditions prove little ; Do not burn food in your pans ! Do not use cooking sprays as they can leave sticky stuff . The Granitestone pans are thinner, less comfortable to hold and no match for the Ninja .

I have had this pan for 2 years now. I purchased it after your review. It has done very well up until now. The pan started sticking a bit recently. I have abused this pan though over the last 2 years. We use it almost every day for breakfasts and dinners.

@@popein2012 same with carbon steel for me as well. Two great alternatives to nonstick pans that lasts forever if you don't mind preheating and seasoning. Enameled cast iron pans also lasts much longer than nonstick pans as well.

@@DimT670 it kills birds by the fumes that is confirmed. Birds are susceptible to a respiratory condition called "teflon toxicity" or "PTFE poisoning/toxicosis." Deaths can result from this condition, which is due to the noxious fumes emitted from overheated cookware coated with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Stating it’s non toxic isn’t actually true.

Just an FYI. One of the front burners on gas ranges is a super burner. It uses more BTU’s and cooks faster even tho it may look the same size. Could be why one pan was cooking faster then the other.

These “nonstick” pans never last. A well seasoned cast iron pan and stainless steel pans last forever.
@RichM19673 жыл бұрын
So I've owned a Cast Iron pan for about 15 years. Properly seasoned things still stick but it's not terrible. Usually if something gets stuck just put water in and in a few min it gets soft and wipes out. Even if it's really stuck a chisel and a hammer won't break the cast iron . The question is with non stick -- that coating is going to wear off and what are you eating??
@7531monkey3 жыл бұрын
I use both but honestly the carcinogens you get from a seasoned pan are just as likely to be harmful as a degraded no stick coating. Just live your life.

I'm not sure about all that, but I personally own this pan (my granite rock warped due to household members not listening and now it doesn't heat evenly) and I did not have the issue he ran into with the egg. I got it because of the thick base and heft. My hope is that it won't warp if certain people in my house decide they need to cook shit on high again. The instructions do say to let the pan come to temp by heating it up for a few minutes before applying the food.

I am enjoying this head to head, pan for pan competition. Despite being a stainless steel pan only house, I found this review quite fascinating. It isn't the best 'non'stick pan you have ever reviewed, but this is likely still a solid B pan. I wonder how it will last. I think that is where the true test will be. Some of the others delivered out the gate, but fell off noticably over time and use. I wonder if the Ninja will just keep being a B level pan and if that is the case, the longevity of it could be more consistent over the long haul. I am intrigued.

I bought two of these. One 10" and one 8". I enjoy using these both. I would think if you took care of them, they would last much longer then 5 years. Restaurant no stick pans don't last for more then 2 years if they are lucky. I rarely use spray oils. Just in muffin or cake tins. Otherwise it's olive oil. Or avocado oil. The pans work fine for me. Only complaint is they take longer to heat up on a glass top range.

So I’ve owned a set of these pans for about 2 years now and for the most part I am happy with them, I have an issue with one of the pots were the finish is actually bubbling inside the pan at the bottom, looks almost like popped bubbles, I’ve never used anything but bamboo utensils and I’ve always hand washed them, not sure if I just got a bad one or if it’s because that’s the most used one, but as one other person commented if you let them heat up a little before you put “whatever” in them they pretty much don’t stick
@fayjaimike3 жыл бұрын
