this is the video we made for angie (ive been lost) and i think what i wrote in the subtitles summarises what this record is about to me in a way i haven’t been able to do before. But to be honest im equally changed by what it’s ended up being about for everyone else.

When Fred’s vocals come in, and he sings “I’ve been broke, I’ve been bent out of shape”. Man… that just hits all the nerves. It hits such a resonance. I lost both my parents before I was 12, and now I’m 33, and this song just captures so much of my life in such a beautiful, perfect way. I don't know what is it about Fred again but man your songs make me cry, or you tap into deep emotions which have been needing to come out for a while. I lost my dad 8 years ago and I've never been the same since. Being broke and bent out of shape is so relatable. As is being lost for a while. Life goes on and is beautiful, but you have this undercurrent of sadness stirring beneath the surface. Nothing will ever be the same, and you've forever changed as a person and how you view the world.

Fred, I know you don't know me, but some day you will! I saw you at Coachella and haven't stopped listening to you since. Ive heard your Boiler Room set over 100 times since then and the ending always just make me break down in ways I never could of imagined. I could never imagine someone's words saying the same thing that goes on in my mind ever since a semi crashed into me 9 years ago. I feel you so much Fred, because that's when I realized that the hardest thing isn't what we go through. Its when the people we truly love experience the unspeakable. I can only imagine what my parents went through when they got a call at 1am saying that their youngest child had just been in an accident caused by a semi truck. In the end, all we can do is try and now this is the song is on repeat in my head when Im finishing a run or staying after to help a student. I just got out of a long distance relationship and this is the song I listened to while going through it. First time I see the clip and while she never got ill this really feels like what I did - living a life while always having this second life of mine in the back of my head. To add to that - I work on the South Bank not too far from where the video is shot, it's literally where I used to go on my lonely lunchbreaks and call her.
