Hardly great that our big races can't attract 'blue chip' companies - and needs hand outs/ sponsorship from bookies.

Agree, BHA and Jockey Club, need to start thinking outside the box and find other corporates to sponsor these big races. We have the lowest price money in Europe. But the likes of 'Lord Snooty' Luck, won't bring this up we the likes of Done. As him and most of his collegues in racing media and press, are literally in bed with the bookies.

Over two decades ago I wrote to those in charge of UK racing proposing an English Triple Crown bonus for colts and fillies, and also a Triple Classic bonus for winners of any two classics outside of England before the running of the St Leger. I listed the Northern Hemisphere 3 year-old races I thought should qualify. I can't remember if it was the JC or BHA running (ruining) racing in England at the time, but the Australian bloke in charge expressed interest in the idea when replying to my letter. Nothing came of it of course, the British in charge of racing in England preferring to pimp the sport out to the highest Arab bidder and thereby wrecking England's historic raving heritage forever. England had one of the best series of 10 furlong weight for age races in the world, right-handed, left-handed and straight courses, but the historic champion Stakes is just a re-run of the Prince of Wales's Stakes now. The British are incapable of any original thought. I'm English not British.

might have been better if the horses were given points for the five classics the one with the most points after the ledger wins the two million

Stopped gaurateed odds in every race, only double the odds on 1 winner on a lucky 15, but as long as you find the money to Sponsor all "The Classics" thats fine. Dont worry about the small punters.🙄👍

You could not get a bookies licence, when it became legal, unless you had a conviction for illegal bookmarking ! Not a lot of people know that ! lol

There's too much racing for a country that size. 60 tracks is far too many. Here in the U.S. we are double the size of the UK 326 million in population and we dont have 60 tracks

326 million population with only 2 million attending race days in 2023. Racing isn’t in the top 5 sports in the US and never will be. When I’m in Florida (twice a year) I talk sport with the locals and they couldn’t give a toss about their racing! #realtalk #knowledgeispower
