I like how FO is like Saga in that people are seated in the buffet rather than having to suffer the ten mile hike looking for seating that is the norm on other cruise lines. Much more civilised.

We loved the buffet experience on FO. The choice wasn't the biggest but the experience was great. In next week's vlog I sample the pasta station.

We've not been on Bolette - I used to choreograph for Boudicca and Black Watch. We do love Fred Olsen. We've recently done Rotterdam on P&O - loved it!! You two are amazing! Love that you actually made cheese. We love Gouda! Not been for years. Rotterdam is just amazing. Bolette looks gorgeous. We loved this. Fred Olsen has been out of our price range this year, but it looks amazing . Cheers 🍻

Thanks for the video. The scones looked good😊 We like Assam (and Darjeeling) too - Do most lines offer a choice of tea? And is it just at afternoon tea? Amazing footage from the focsle, with the squals and rough weather settling in.

Thanks Lesley certainly most Cruise lines used to offer a choice of teas but sadly after the pandemic they seem to have changed. Rather than offering a choice of real teas the choices seem to be for green teas and fruit teas Fred Olsen is the exception and they even have a speciality tea tasting in a beautiful room. There is an extra charge for this and we ran out of time to try it out as we were only on for 5 nights. I think it's something we would consider next time slang with the Matini tasting session. On Bolette additional tea choices were available at breakfast. Thanks for watching Ken

Great video, thank you. You clearly enjoyed the cruise. 🙂 Out of interest, may I just ask what ship/experience you would rate overall better out of Aurora and Bolette? Am planning a northern lights cruise so would love to know of your thoughts. Determining factors for me are a clean and cosy cabin, general good service and good food. I have travelled P & O but not Aurora. Never travelled Fred Olsen. Have cruised 25 times but never northern lights.

This was our first experience on Fred Olsen and it was only 5 nights so this is all I can base this answer on. We have sailed over 20 times on Aurora and she feels like a second home to us. Here goes with an unbiased answer. In general food is better on Fred Olsen, entertainment is more to our taste on P & O. The price of Spa and speciality dining is cheaper on Fred Olsen. The price of the cruise is better on Aurora. We have found the passengers on both to be charming in general unlike some of the other P & O ships. Tips are included on P & O they are charged @ £5 pppd on Fred Olsen. We did a northern lights cruise on Aurora last year you may have seen our videos and we are going again next year. There seems to be a higher staff to passenger ratio on Fred Olsen rather than Aurora which means the staff have more time to talk to you and can seem more attentive. We have never had an issue with staff or service on Aurora but we do know quite a few people on board. The ships are a similar age and although slightly dated are both well kept. The design is different with Fred Olsen having a number of smaller and intimate rooms while Aurora had a purpose built theatre and a show lounge. We found the production shows poor on Bolette in comparison to Aurora but the other daily activities were quite similar. Guest entertainers were good on both. The drinks selection is much wider on Bolette and the drinks package less expensive but very confusing as it doesn't include bottled water or speciality coffee. I hope this helps. I think your choice will depend on which aspect of cruising is most important to you but both products are good and good value for money.
