At FRED Film Radio, Woody Allen presents his new film COUP DE CHANCE, presented in Out of Competition at #Venezia80.
COUP DE CHANCE:
Coup de Chance is about the important role chance and luck play in our lives. Fanny and Jean look like the ideal married couple-they’re both professionally accomplished, they live in a gorgeous apartment in an exclusive neighborhood of Paris, and they seem to be in love just as much as they were when they first met.
But when Fanny accidentally bumps into Alain, a former high school classmate, she’s swept off her feet. They soon see each other again and get closer and closer...

Woody Allen is the best there is.. He is one of the most inventive, resourseful director/ screenwriters in films. As an American actor/ screenwriter, I salute him. Hollywood could take a lesson from him. A million best wishes, Woody..

More than any filmmaker, Woody Allen has kept his promise to make a film every year. For all of his talent and success, he has remained a humble and honest man, and this shines through in every interview he's given and film he's made. We could all learn much from his energy, imagination - and good luck. I can't wait to watch Coup de Chance.

I watched the movie last night and absolutely loved it. Clever script, wonderful actors, downplaying the inherent drama to a point where you think: this could have happened to me. Pure pleasure

👏❤Coup de chance is another masterpiece by Woody, the master of cinema. The cast (Lou de Laâge, Melvin Poupaud, Niels Schneider, and Valérie Lemercier) is absolutely great, the script (Woody) is brilliant, the cinematography (Vittorio Storaro) is gorgeous, and the direction (Woody) is, as always, impecable. This is a movie about love, betrayal, control, and luck. Amazingly written and beautifully shot. A masterpiece (in French) with a flavour of the great French cinema from last century (Truffaut, Lelouch, Godard), with a bit of Hitchcock (you can actually spot a Hitchcock book lying on a shelf in one scene), and with a wonderful soundtrack (jazz from the 60s: Herbie Hancock's "Cantaloupe Island" and Nat Adderley). No explosions, plastic people or a 200MM budget; just absolutely pure excellent cinema. Bravo, Woody. You are the best! 10/10.👏❤

My ranking of Allen (haven't seen everything, though): 1. Hannah and Her Sisters 2. Annie Hall 3. Match Point 4. Manhattan 5. Crimes and Misdemeanors

@@pablofrank2466 I've actually seen Interiors! On a different day it could maybe crack my top 5 over C&M. I remember when I first saw it I sat through the first 20 minutes thinking, "This is just kinda depressing" and "I don't think I like this", not knowing where it was going. But it won me over eventually. I am also sort of in love with Diane Keaton in that film. What I have yet to see from Allen are just about all those acclaimed 80's and 90's movies besides Hannah and Crimes, so I'm looking forward to that

I've seen all 49 films so far. Some have been disappointing, or I haven't been in the right mood, but others I've rewatched countless times. I like your list but I'd squeeze in Husbands and Wives, and To Rome With Love. While Rome isn't profound, I think it's the most 'laugh out loud' film he's ever made.

@@Νικος-τ5ξ Do you really think if he was a paedophile, that he would wait til the age of 56 to pursue his sick urges, do it once (in a house where Mia pinned a note on the door calling him a child molester) and never do it again? You're not that naive/stupid/deluded - delete where applicable.

Unfortunately he is unable to get financial backing in the States for his films and no distributor will touch them. Coupled with that, most actors and actresses have said they would never work with him again.

@SUCKEDD Please educate yourself on this case. Woody Allen was not the parent of Soon Yi - biological, step or adoptive. He never lived in the same household as her when she was growing up (he never even slept once over in Mia's apartment in their 11 year relationship).
