Freddie was the whole package. Killer gospel-style vocals, monster guitarist and almost in league with Willie Dixon as a song-writer. He had more than 20 crossover hits during a time when Black musicians weren't played on most stations and 5 of those were instrumentals. He was, possibly, the first major bridge between true blues and modern rock.

It's absolutlety amazing how he gets involved with the atmosphere created by him and the other musicians during the performance. It seems like he takes a quick trip outside stage, but then he comes back and starts talking to the audience, just to be sure that he is really there, back again.
@IndependentGeorge7614 жыл бұрын
this era was some kind of pinnacle in musi, and this performance is up there with the best. all those guys that came up, learnt their trade and paid their dues in the late 50's and early 60's all hit a real maturity around the same time. guys like freddie, dr john, the meters and countless others. what an era, and what a sound. RIP Freddie King, i hope there's regualr poker nights in heaven...
@rajinder2k415 жыл бұрын
i think this version is wonderful, he presents a unique emotional perspective and understanding of the lyrics, its hard to peg down but like theres a bit of frustration, helplessness, love, detachment, and ecstasy in the realisation that it is indeed only dark in her absense.

he is so original that emotions that he plays just flows in the air every time he plays...great musician

Freddie Is very soulful. Bill Withers is also very soulful. It's a pleasure hearing music played by musicians - and not just a "keyboard wizard" programming songs without feeling or emotion. The drummer was especially funky.

One of the best concerts I saw back in 1975 was Eric Clapton with the late Freddie King in Shreveport with my cheerleader girlfriend. One of the last shows King did before he died. Freddie King and Clapton did a 30 minute encore that was just amazing.

When did Freddy get so popular on YT? Did a movie or video game come out with some of his jams on it recently? Seems like last year none of his videos had over a few thousand views. Now they are all rockin out at 6 figures to a mil. Good to see all the old skool love, seeing as today we are in the "musical black ages" . Wich proves that there is hope for the future of mankind and music.
