In this lesson James breaks down Going down by the mighty Freddie King! In this lesson we break down a simple and advanced rhythm part using alternate picking, palm muting and 7th chords. We also discuss using the D minor pentatonic to improvise over the song and how to make it sound like Freddie.
For this tutorial I am using a Eppiphone ES355 on the middle and neck pickup with a Fender Princeton using lots of Reverb and a tube screamer. The looper i use in this lesson is a Boss RC-1
Heres a bit more about the song:
"Going Down," written by Don Nix and made iconic by Freddie King, is a blues-rock anthem that has inspired generations of guitarists. Released in 1971 on King's album Getting Ready..., this track is a high-energy blend of soulful vocals, driving rhythm, and powerful guitar riffs. Freddie King’s masterful licks and dynamic playing make it a must-learn for guitarists seeking to expand their skills in blues and rock.
