he was/is a total cure for depression. You can't hear him play guitar without a big fat grin appearing. Soooo good. Thanks for putting this up.

I had the honor and privilege to see Freddie play many times in the 70s. First time I saw him was at the world famous Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin. Last time was at Randy's Rodeo in San Antonio a few months before he died. The way Freddie could hold a note, it would reverberate in your brain if you were fucked up on alcohol or weed.

What I'd give to experience that performance live. What a band. Wish Uncle Eric would break out his 335 when he cut's the electric Blue's. The tone, power, clarity and overdriven sound is just pure filth. RIP Freddie 🙏 You are the King of electric Blue's as both a guitarist and singer. Amen.

I play this song the same way; it's a fairly busy, funky drum part. I use less ride cymbal, but this dude is excellent...driving the band. This is a driving, funky song. And I love Big Legged Women!

Db ....Wow. Not a keyboard man's favorite neighborhood. Freddie King was who they all wanted to play and sing like. He was the man...and pretty cool and humble by all accounts. I've heard him do this really uptempo, too, and it burns!

Minute 4.23 you can see freddie is not so happy that the drummer still hittin’ .. talk about chemistry 🤣 his name texas cannonball wasn’t only for his guitar playing .. he used to beat the ass to the people who made mistakes with him .. of course they follow him 🤣

That's Freddie's brother Benny on the bass, and a VERY young David Maxwell on the piano. Possibly one of the single greatest blues rock bands ever assembled. Basically, a stage full of legends either at, or just reaching, their prime. (expletive withheld) amazing!

The great Charlie Robinson of Chicago on Drums. He started out playing drums in his brother Leonard and Dwayne Jackson's band The Plaids featuring the late great Homer Strickland. They were also the band for Cicero Blake, Syl Johnson andThe Dynamic Exquisites featuring David Cole, Gil McPhail, Joseph Macklin Darryl and lonnie Partee.

And the best part is that they are just doing for the TV crew. You'd think that there was a whole club to theater audience there but no, just the folks who happened to be at the station at the time.

I've had the pleasure of backing Deacon Jones on bass and hanging out with Deek, as I call him, a number of times since 2006. Actually played with him at his church too! Humble man, very upbeat and friendly. He was kind enough to answer my questions about Freddie and others he's played with. Go to his website and buy not just his music, but his book, "40 Years with the Blues Legends", has a ton of stories that only someone that was THERE could know.

@CosmicTraveler Not sure of the rest of the band but that's Deacon Jones on the organ. Saw him at Colne Blues Festival here in the UK a few years ago, played a dynamite set. With regard to the drummer, his playing is right for the song - it's a noisy, brash sound from the whole band, nice and busy, and it's his job to push the whole thing along with the busy, propulsive drumming he's doing. It fits perfectly.

Freddie's playing is high energy in this version, the bass player is busy, as are the piano fills. It all sounds great to me. The song is supposed to be what Freddie King wanted it to be at that time. It was his band and if he didn't want the drummer to play like that I'm sure the drummer wouldn't be.

@jeffroblueguitarman It's not too fast. Freddie, like most Blues players, always varied tempos, and this was funky, perfect. This is simply how they felt it on that performance. Lesson 1. Blues is a feeling, not an exact orchestration.

I also disagree. The band did what Freddie wanted ALWAYS. If not, you're fired. He hawks the band all night, and calls for every hit and accent. To lay the tempo on the drummer is dead wrong, and at the speed they are pounding that groove, it makes Charlie even more impressive. Not one double in the whole tune, ALL single stroke! Amazing. The look on Benny's face when he clams it up a little in his bass solo, is the look of a man who is gonna hear about that choke later!
