Seeing Freddy Star and Des O'Connor again like this just reminds me how good we had it in the old days, TV made for the majority to enjoy with great stars and so much fun, laughing until our sides hurt. Thanks for this memory.

Freddie great comedian and singer. Sparkling eyes and great smile. So enjoyed the laughter Freddie brought to many. My Mum and Dad. Me and my children. Latter not easy to achieve laughter three generations worth. One and only Freddie. Never see the likes again.

I had the, erm, pleasure of meeting Freddie star as a vehicle mechanic a few years ago. The guy is not only arrogant, he is an utter a-hole. He threatened members of staff because he said he was a martial artist, his car was covered in dents (due to drink and drugs according to the reports) and generally he was a complete a-hole.

he was talented outragous....and was a great singer.....but suffered from stage fright.....probably why he drank...... but he played on his own unpredictability....due to alcohol ...and the audience expected it.....he did not disappoint..... the shock element of his act...was what sold it......underneath it all ..he was quite a genuine bloke...... great comic and entertainer

Apart from making me cry with laughter, i forgot what a great singer Freddy was. Him and Des worked well and unfortunately we dont see acts like that anymore. The only comedian who has run amok on a chat show is probably Peter Kay. Freddy may have had his demons and issues but he knew how to get the response from his audience. Loved the Elaine Paige with her dog attacking Freddy's stuffed dog. Comedy gold.

I know fans wont want to hear this but I met him at a stately home location in Derbyshire when he was doing a series of Ye Olde Time skits for his show and he was an absolute arsehole. Paul McShane was appearing with him and was an absolute gentleman who said when I asked him whats he like to work with and he said, "nightmare" he also added that "what you see on T.V. and here today is down to cocaine" as as I was working security near the dressing caravans I saw quite a bit of evidence of that.
