As a man of a certain age. I grew up watching Freddie Starr, here in the UK. He was without doubt, a one off and a comic genius. I am sure he would be thrilled, knowing his Talent is still appreciate by such a lovely lady. Thank you so much for sharing this.

I was lucky enough to see him live as he toured the nightclubs before he became a household name. Des O'Connor was a great fan and they had many laughs together. Two sketches with Shirley Bassey were Freddie at his best. One where he was barman serving Des and Shirley but the ultimate sketch was Freddie singing with Shirley when he was sitting on a two legged stool dressed in his German uniform. Now we aren't allowed to laugh at ourselves so it's nice to see a young lady in this day and age who appreciates his humor and his talent. He had a great voice.

The way Freddie was treated at the end by the British media was terrible for an absolute legend to be treated like that

It's heartbreaking mate, I watch these for nostalgia and I still laugh at these but I can't help but feel sad and depressed at the same time. Can't help but think about that evil that was done to him. He looked destroyed towards the end of his life. Same thing with Michael Jackson. There needs to be seriously new laws put in for false accusers, ridiculous out there now!

They love to do that, especially now that the media is 100% left wing and the old entertainers were talented and genuine. two things that left wing people hate. He died in Mijas in Andalucia and having been there a few times I can tell you that it is a very nice place to pass away. Everyone is smart to leave England now. Get out while you can. Leave it to the lefties, feminists, trans and racists.

Just typical of the British media. They do anything to sell their rags. Haven't looked at one for years.

True comic talent is when a comic can just look at an audience and have then rolling about in their seats. Freddie had that in buckets. Dangerous, totally unpredictable, the audience were deliciously nervous not knowing what he was going to do next, and loving it.

I too wish I could have gone to see Freddie live , he often played at venues around the UK and everybody, just everybody, loved him. Your reactions to that lovely funny guy are so genuine and so touching. He didn't deserve to pass away in such poor health and as a broken man, and also not a great age. To see him in his last year he looked destroyed with his nerves and trauma. What a sad end to such a talanted man's life. Him and Des were great friends and they just gelled. He was a comedy genius no doubt about it. God bless him.

I live in Northern Ireland, but went on holiday to Blackpool almost every year with my dad, for around 20 years. We always seen shows over there, especially comedy and music. To name a few, we have seen....... Frank Carson, The Grumbleweeds, Johnny Casson, Joe Longthorne, The Shadows, Bradley Walsh...., but one of the best "all-round" entertainers we ever seen was Freddie Starr! The man was amazing, and I was lucky to meet him (on my own) once when I went for a smoke on Blackpool pier during an interval, and walked around to the back of the venue. There was Freddie having a pint and smoke himself, and we shared a quick chat. Being 6 foot 1 inch myself, he was so small in real life, but what a gentleman! I will forever hold a place in my heart for Freddie, and I very much doubt the UK will ever have a comedian like him again! Shame on the media and the people who ever doubted him!

@@colindavid2078 Yes mate, he was a one off. Very very talented, and he had a fabulous singing voice as well. A true all round entertainer. You're right we won't see anyone like him again, there is nobody nowadays to touch him. L I grew up and still live in the same city of liverpool,as freddie starr. He was always a comical genius . I hear you like Elvis which is now dated, but the people of Freddies generation all aspired too be or sound like him..Notice the clothes that the men wore( Teddy Boys) Long draped jackets, tight pants(drainpipes) and big suede shoes(brothelcreepers). Watch Freddie perform in one of his shows with The Jordanaires(Elvises backing singers) He had a decent representation of Elvis, but as we know, there can only be one Elvis. Take a look on british TV.

Freddie Starr was a an absolute comedy legend. In my view he was one of the most outrageous comics ever. There will never be another like him. Des O'Connor was also a great comic too, much more than a talk show host. He was primarily a singer who had great comic ability. Among his greatest exploits were with his great friends Morcambe and Wise. There was a running gag on their TV shows where they would always lampoon his LPs and make fun of his singing voice, but it was all for fun and Des was their greatest friend. There was never any harm in it.

You will probably not know this, that Des O'Connor is the only British person to make American TV talk shows and be popular on American TV with the women and his accent. He did two seasons don't ask me what channel we was on or what station he was with and on. It was him who discovered Leno, Letterman when they were young comedians invited him on his American show to joke and fool around and they became instant hits there is another one but I can't remember him or his name and all 3 they went on to host huge talk shows themselves.

What did Freddie ACTUALLY do to make people laugh? I’m serious (unlike him), what did he actually do? Yet I couldn’t hold it together EVER with him, just like Des I cried laughing at him, every. single. time. I often couldn’t breathe for laughing; comic genius like that would be banned as far too outrageous or somehow un-PC but you are looking at almost a god in comedy……Tommy Cooper also had the ability to walk on stage and do NO -THING nothing, just look at the audience with a gormless face; just look….they’d be hanging on to the back of their seats trying to compose themselves…. RIP Freddie and Tommy, your like will never come again…..

Such a sad ending for a hugely talented man. Freddie was arrested after allegations of historical incidents of sexual assault and harassment of young women. Part of an ongoing investigation following the death of Jimmy Saville. The investigation lasted 2 years before police announced there would be no prosecution. In that time work dried up he was treated badly by the media. He ended up living in Spain an alcoholic with mental health issues having spent most of his savings on legal fees. He died in Spain. His body repatriated to the UK by a funeral director who met the cost. Public donations from fans helped. Freddie is buried in a graveyard in the same grave as his Mom & Dad.
