The both of them together take my breath away. He sought her out, wanting to sing with her ever since he first heard her in Coventry Garden. When they finally met in Barcelona, he won her over immediately. Montserrat Caballé was the operatic voice of these two centuries and Freddie was clearly the Rock talent of the same era. They were both at the peak of their careers and had everything to gain by joining forces and definitely loving each other, deeply. It is there for all to see, hear, and know from interview in which they talked about each other and how they held onto each other at every opportunity.

... and will last for all generations! At the height of Queen’s popularity, I was concentrating fully on post-grad studies and trying to keep body and soul together. I came late to the party, so to speak. I heard what was played on the local pop music station, but I’m pleasantly surprised that even today, there is so much more awe-inspiring music to find! Freddie’s (Queen’s) music remains brilliant and fresh even in 2024. “Barcelona” is a truly magnificent duet that transcends genres. And Montserrat- - no words. Best soprano voice I’ve ever heard: gentle and touchingly sweet, yet so incredibly powerful at the same time. There is, also, such perfect clarity! Her high notes are amazing; no high soprano screeching, just light notes that seem to bounce off the clouds, especially in her vocal runs. Breathtaking. I pray both Freddie and Montserrat are making music together with the angels in heaven. Rest In Peace, Freddie and Montserrat!

This whole opera that Freddie wrote is the most beautiful music I have ever heard. It's a story of how he met his idol which is Montserrat Caballe. Freddie Mercury IMO is the biggest music savant I've ever seen. And then to have that beautiful voice? Truly a once in a lifetime. I am so grateful we have his music we can listen to any time we want.

That is the Perfect discribtion of Freddie!! A Savant , I've never heard anyone call him this , but he definitely has all of the symptoms for a diagnosis!! ❤️ He sang , danced , wrote , both words and shape notes , played piano , keyboard , guitar , drums , a tambourine ( think it's called) and he was known to play Rogers stolen marracas , before he threw them out into the audience!! Poor Roger almost cried!! 😂😂😂 YES a Savant!! Beautiful word to describe this musical prostitute!! ❤️❤️😂❤️❤️

I can't believe Freddie sang such great opera, his words are clear, his actions and motions crisp, and the two are sensational together. God bless them both dead or alive. xoxo

This piece is very operatic. It starts with Freddie’s recitative, then duo arias for Montse and Freddie and their chorus gospel inspired, the section of Montse and the choir, with Montse at the finale, ending with recitative, then aria. They truly enjoyed singing and dancing to this music. They truly enjoyed each other too. Their hand holding and near embraces onstage were real, not just stagecraft.
